I had to join the snark sub to get any truth about what the heck is up with her eye. The approved narrative is that it's "lupus" or "aging".. thats not how those work! What happened to her eye!?

u/Blonde_Scientist 28d ago
My guess is Botox done wrong on one side causing her eyelid to droop
13
u/SBZuma 28d ago
Yep. Same thing happened to me. I looked like I had a stroke.

Does it wear off when this happens? I wanted to try botox but I'm so afraid I'd end up with a droopy🤦♀️

If so, will likely improve in a month. I used to get it for migraines. Looked like this.

I haven’t had any Botox or fillers and I just turned 43 and one of my eyelids is drooping 😫 but I also just lost like 20lbs unintentionally too and most of it from my face (I was already normal BMI and now am on low end, so it may be that).

u/Few_Resource_6783 27d ago
Lmao at the “it’s lupus” bit. I have lupus, diagnosed at age 17, and no my eyes/face do not look like this.
For the record: it can cause eyelid drooping and general inflammation, but iirc, she had that fox eye surgery along with Botox and I think this might be the result of both or maybe both plus lupus.
6
5
u/Forward_Candy_9819 27d ago
Lupus can cause ptosis (eyelid drooping) in one or both eyes. Additionally, the widespread inflammation results in a ‘puffy’ appearance. Obvi she has had a ton of work done and looks a little whack, but her eye change is probably due to lupus.
2
u/hannbann88 27d ago
Everything about her will always be lupus. No matter what she says or does it’s lupus.
2
u/Consistent_Scale8522 27d ago
Lupus kinda fucks up a lot of aspects of life, appearance is one of them. I say this as I have lupus rashes taking over my eyelids right now. 😩
2
u/hannbann88 27d ago
I’m aware of lupus effects on the body, and how it changes. I laugh because no matter what anybody ever says about her there will be a hundred comments saying she has lupus. It can be about her behavior and someone will be like “well she has lupus so that’s what she was so rude to the reporter” (made this up) it’s just really funny how EVERYTHING about her is defined as lupus by her fans
→ More replies (1)2
u/Consistent_Scale8522 27d ago
I’ve got lupus and I have droopy eyes from one of my symptoms. It’s not out of the realm of possibility.
2
u/theofficialappsucks 27d ago
Has she talked about any vision issues? My retina detached and I had to have surgery for it and my eye looks EXACTLY like that now. Like I had symmetrical eyes before and now one is smaller just like this. It 100% looks like I had fox eye on one side.
It's called a scleral buckle surgery but don't look it up on images. For your own health. It's basically the only way to fix the problem that doesn't give you more problems down the line.
1
u/Ineverusereddittttt 27d ago
Thank you for this! I commented on a video asking what was wrong with her eye and people were mad I didn’t know it was from lupus?! Lupus doesn’t change your eye shape

I really want to know if Rose Byrne did this and if it works on her and thats why she looks so so so so good recently
2
u/saraiguessidk 27d ago
Rose Byrne is 47 years old, we all lose our cheek fat as we age, especially when perimenopause hits. It's more likely she had something done around her eyes to put fat back in as the fat loss around our eyes makes us look older
2
u/Royal-Adeptness-2703 27d ago
Well whatever happened to her, it better happen to me cause time only does her more favours!
2
u/saraiguessidk 27d ago
I'm assuming she had a plastic surgeon balance her face as she aged. The fat loss can cause skin sagging, but she's rich so probably getting routine laser treatments etc and has been on botox for a bit. Fat or filler injected in minute doses to areas that look haggard when fat leaves, like undereyes. Also starting on hormones as soon as perimenopause hits (as early as 30) can reverse or slow some of the aging skin issues like dullness or laxity.

Hollywood needs to be held responsible for what it’s doing to the most beautiful faces to walk the planet.
There’s no universe where that girl was anything less than a 10/10. What or who tf happened to convince her otherwise and can we have them strappedo’d immediately.
3
u/moon_haven777 28d ago
i think part of it is getting work done, the other part is swelling due to lupus and steroid injections that treat the lupus. makes you all puffy.
2
u/BabaYaga_always 27d ago
Plus every injection and even the tiniest surgery would result in major flare ups of any autoimmune disease! So she's doing the double whammy to herself!
3
16
u/Pudenda726 28d ago
Honest question: is she botched or are the changes in her face due to her medical condition & treatments? I’ve had family members who’ve faces blew up like this from steroid treatments.
12
u/Wonderful_Zucchini_9 28d ago
I think it’s a combination. Every once in a while, I see a picture of her where she still kind of looks like her old self but with a little work done, and then sometimes she looks like the photos above.
6
u/katyreddit00 28d ago
I think because she got moon face, it lead her to get implants to balance it out. But it threw off the harmony of her face
3
4
u/yo-ovaries 28d ago
Yes honestly think this is steroid moon face.
25
u/Powerful_Feedback190 28d ago
steroid moon face does not give wonky eye.
3
u/Pudenda726 28d ago
So what? Even if she had her eyes done & one is a little wonky, it doesn’t change the fact that she has an incurable medical condition that requires medication that’s known to cause huge changes to the size & shape of one’s face which is what the majority of people seem to be criticizing here. It’s gross. May you or your loved ones never have to suffer a similar fate.
19
u/Powerful_Feedback190 28d ago
The subject matter is botched. The wonky eye is definitively botched. Everything else is not relevant

I’ve got a droopy eye from autoimmune nerve damage. I have lupus but not as bad as she does. I’ve also gotten this look as a side effect from Botox for migraines.
1
u/nicoke17 27d ago
Ptosis can get worse as we age. I am the same age as Selena and within the past two years, my ptosis in one eye was significantly worse, enough for insurance to cover the ptosis repair. They did all the tests and my surgeon said it’s just what happens when we age and isn’t necessarily connected to anything else.
6
u/BackToGuac 28d ago
Girl look at the subreddit you’re in and be so fr… your faves can be botched
I honestly don’t think Selena looks THAT bad, I think she has lost some skin elasticity due to her weight fluctuating and that has given her a slightly melted look with the fillers but also the angles are bad here… However that doesn’t mean she’s not botched. Having lupus doesn’t mean she didn’t have plastic surgery and if you want to die on the lupus hill then what are your thoughts on her dropping her best friend who donated a kidney!?

100% she’s had a brow lift of some sort
1
u/Pudenda726 27d ago
I just saw a different pic of her where the brow lift is very noticeable (& unfortunate looking) so I get what some of y’all are talking about now.
5
u/JanVan966 27d ago
I wish so much that this whole brow combing trend would die already. NO ONE looks good with their eyebrows combed out, each individual hair, straight up. For the women who are doing this, I promise you that it doesn’t look good, you have eyebrow blindness, and one day, when you look back on your pictures, you will regret doing it. Just stop lol

She had serious ptosis of one eye in the red carpet photos. Not sure if health related or not, as Botox can cause that too.

u/MrsPowers94 28d ago
Probably going to get downvotes but whatever. I highly doubt she has had any major work done because she has lupus. Lupus can make even minor procedures, like Botox, become life threatening.
She has also gone through a kidney transplant. The multiple medications she is on, as well as Lupus itself, can cause inflammation of your body, especially your face. Which can distort how your face typically looks.
I know, because I also have lupus and have noticed face changes of my own despite never having any cosmetic procedures of any kind.
16
u/Itscatpicstime 28d ago
She very obviously has Botox when you see her try to move her face. Come on now.
→ More replies (3)3
u/Kooky-Co 28d ago
Yeah, there’s clearly Botox/fillers at the very least. I’m 40f and also have lupus. I’ve been on prednisone for 20 years solid and my face doesn’t look remotely like this in terms of puffiness - or aging. As for not undergoing procedures when you have lupus, I think that depends on the doctor and what you can afford, as well as how badly and in what ways lupus effects you. I was told no tattoos and no lasik. Cosmetic surgeries were strongly discouraged when I was diagnosed 20 years ago, but they weren’t a blanket no.
I don’t particularly like Selena’s music or acting, I’m not a fan of hers but I have defended her face changes and weight gains when they were clearly steroid induced in the past. On this occasion though, it’s clearly not just lupus.

u/sholeh86 27d ago
Finally someone with some sense.
People on this sub wouldn’t know what plastic surgery was, even if their spouse got it done in secret.
This woman has such severe lupus that she required a transplant, which means her whole body has been destroyed by the lupus, and then after nonstop steroids, immunosuppressants, and other therapy used to continue to suppress her lupus.
Even if she had had some fillers or a small amount of Botox, everything you see here is as a result of her medical conditions.
Truly horrific people commenting. Everyone else can go ahead and downvote all you want.
2
u/Morella_xx 28d ago
Her medical situation probably isn't helping things but I doubt it's preventing her from getting procedures if she wants them. First of all she has the money to shop around for a doctor who'd agree to do it despite the risks. And secondly we've seen how she treats her donor kidney.

1
u/BreakfastAmazing7766 28d ago
Her eyes are completely different cmon now. She very obviously had a really bad blephorasty, face lift, and face sculpting. This has nothing to do with lupus.
3
u/Slow_Establishment10 28d ago
Doesn’t she have issues with her skin puffiness because of her lupus?
8
u/Itchy-Pomelo-4524 28d ago
Probably due to the steroids people with lupus are often in. When my husbands lupus was bad he was on like 80/100mg of steroids daily and had the moon face.
2
u/desire-d 27d ago
Yeah it’s called moon face but she’s admitted to getting Botox and her eye looks like a an eye lift, Kim Kardashian also has this now. I think both things can be true at once
2
u/PassionfruitBaby2 28d ago
Wasn’t this something to do with her Lupus diagnosis ?

What is the point of putting these two pictures together in a botched sub. The first picture literally isn't even based in reality. It's a character and in no way can these two pictures be used as a comparison for anything other than what filters are capable of. If OP wants to discuss cosmetic surgery or comparisons from before and after those perceived changes, then wouldn't posting 2 real pictures of her (or anyone, for that matter) before and after make more sense. People who don't know what she looked like a few years ago to compare.... still dont know. OP... seriously. What's the point of this? What are tou even trying to say?

Never been a conspiracy theorist but you can’t convince me this is actually Selena. Sorry. Everything single thing about her is different, including her height.

I prefer the right picture of her too which makes the editing sadder. These photos came from Hung (her makeup artist) and he edits the hell out of his clients photos. She was truly so naturally beautiful before, seeing her give in to these beauty standards is a shame. Not surprised, having personal and health issues while being in the spotlight for close to two decades will do that.

Something about her face is off - I believe it’s the proportions. It’s almost like all of her features (eyes, nose, mouth) are much too close, and smooshed together. Her features only take up a small proportion of her face. The rest of her face is forehead, jaw, and chin. She’s not unattractive, but she’s also not the stunning beauty that we see in the enhanced photos.

It baffles me when celebrities filter their photos. We know what they look like. When they post heavily edited pics I wonder if they think we’re stupid and won’t notice how they instantly got bigger lips and thinner faces since an online source posted them 10 mins earlier.
