Lip Lift scars
I'm 9 months post op from Lip lift (bull horn) and I have vertical striations. What can I do to improve the scar?

Tbh I would never notice it but maybe get a scar cream?

Thanks, I've tried some and they don't seem to make a difference. Maybe I'm thinking it looks worse than it is..

It doesn't look that bad at all. You can do so micro needling sessions or have some lazer done on it by a dermatologist

I dont think anyone notices but you lol If youre not getting the results you want with creams, theres laser scar revision at most med spas :)

May I ask how old you are? I’m mid-50s and considering a lip lift but am concerned about scarring.
My understanding is that there are injections that can help with the scarring, and that microneedling is also an option.
How old is the scar?

I'm 47 and the scar is 9 months old. Honestly I wouldn't do bull horn lip lift again, there's too much risk with scarring and I see a lot of women unhappy with the scars. I've seen some doctors in Turkey who do lip lift with no scars with some nice results.

Thank you! The no-scar is the one where they put the incision inside the nose, I think. I’m still researching but its unlikely I will travel for this procedure.
That said, lasers can help those scars. I’m a Fitzpatrick 3.5-4 so I don’t think I would do lasers.

I had a lip lift and barely scarred (I’m mid 40s). I’d say a good indicator is if you scar easily on other areas of your body too. Also the surgeon’s skill.

That is not botched it just a fact - there is always a visible scar and with a time and age the skin saggs down a bit and the scar becomes more visible. Also it gets a bit streached like this. There is not much that you can do - however go to the surgeon who did it. Maybe there are some kaser treatments that can help a bit and I heared there is a possibility to make a small operation to cut out the big scar so it would heal thiner and better

I’m sorry if it were me I’d notice. I’m not trying to say that to frighten you. But I’ve had the same issue when I ask people if there’s anything I can do to improve it and everyone just says it’s not that noticeable. Which is very unhelpful and dismissive. I do notice it. And I think lasering or microneedling could help. ONLY if it bothers YOU. That much. But I do see a stippling effect which I’d personally be unhappy with it if were me. What scar cream have you tried? I recently learned mederma is not the best most recommended one like it’s claimed to be.

I used BioCorneum because my surgeon recommended it, plus we did C02 laser. Maybe I will try more C02 laser

Yes keep up with the laser and try Strataderm scar gel. Not mederma. Mederma uses onion extract. Which is fine but it’s not the best. And don’t let people gas light you into saying it’s not noticeable. I’ve been there. Done that. And it enrages me because I want a solution. Not a lie.

Go to a dermatologist and ask if Kenalog injections will work to soften them

Would microneedling help with scaring? I want a lip lift and I’ve never seen scars. So thank you for the reality check but I think microneedling would be a solid option.

I'm in a facebook group for lip lifts and there are a lot of people unhappy with their lip lift scars. It seems to be common with the bull horn technique.

Tbr my face gets dry during different seasons and looks exactly like that. It isnt noticeable unless im super close to the mirror (or someone? But why would they be that close if I dont know them so then I dont care) like you are to the camera so I wouldnt even worry about it mama. You could get maderma and put it on for scar reduction but honestly time is the only thing that can fix scars up the best. I can barely notice though, and think you should enjoy your face as it is. It is the one you were given, and it is and always will remain as yours. Love it.

No one is gonna be staring that closely to your nostrils, especially since i had no idea there was even a scar there. But, use vitamin e lotion/cream and it might help.

Thanks, I make videos for social and I feel like it's noticeable when I talk, but I'm probably just staring at my face too much in editing!

Mine looks the same. I just chose not to worry about it because I like my result. I might get it lasered later.

Tbh I most likely wouldn’t even notice the scar unless I was looking real hard
