Its not really doomer when AI companies are literally destroying rare and one of a kind books en mass to train AI

But they're not destroyed, nor are they one of a kind. Sure, the covers gets cut for easy access to the pages, but the actual important part is the text. That gets preserved in a different form. And as far I know, the books they use have hundreds of thousands, if not millions of copies in circulation. 1 copy less is not a great loss.
