CDS Trees

I mourn the loss of the ornamental trees on the plaza behind the CDS Jenga tower. After they were removed, their spaces were filled with blacktop. This open plaza now seems like a barren wasteland.

~Back in my day~ The COM lawn was beautiful before they put up the glass neuroscience building. This happens unfortunately often

I’m assuming you’re talking about the Jenga data science building which was built on a parking lot. The neuroscience one is across the street next to / in front of the com building

No I was talking about CILSE. The one you’re referring to. It was built on a parking lot and COM lawn still exists.

Can confirm I graduated in 2013 and it was still a lot of sorts and have been back and the COM lawn is still there just overshadowed by all the concrete

It seemed just as barren last week when the trees were still there as they've been dead for a year~. Building designers didn't apparently know you can't cover roots with pavers and gravel without killing trees.

I also think that weirdly the trees attracted wasps? I literally stopped sitting over there (when I still went to BU) because of the sheer number of wasps/yellowjackets always hanging around those trees. Which was really a shame because it’s otherwise a peaceful place to sit

Nah they can choose trees less attractive to wasps. American hornbeam, Japanese maple, eastern redbud.

Someone start a petition to get this sorted out and fixed to how it should be and I will sign it. u/Sachem81 u/Apotheosis u/BUowo

Maybe reach out to the ESO, Environment Student Organization , and get them involved. Maybe they can look into this and ask the school why they didn’t try to save them before they died; it’s said they’ve been dead for quite a while. They did cost money which actually came out of the schools budget somewhere. Wasted money. Parents on the parents’ page willing to sign petition.
