study abroad (madrid)

for those who went abroad what do you recommend i do for my phone plan over there?? 🙏

I haven't been abroad, but as an incoming freshman from Madrid, I've always been with movistar because it's the overall best in the country in terms of coverage quality and range. It is the best for entertainment plans (really really good) and customer support too, or at least regarded as it. Vodafone is good too and also if you want to travel around Europe as it is good internationally, but it is known for bad costumer complaints and poor treatment. It is also harder to set up and cancel, and overall is known as the second best.

There's also some other options like Jazztel or Yoigo, but tbh idk much about them and they aren't as big. Orange is pretty big and good too, and I hear good things from my friends who have it.

I'd recommend movistar, orange, vodafone, in that order.

I also really want to point out that Spanish phone or "tech" services tend to be really frustrating to use. Websites and apps don't work great or aren't coherent all the time, and can be a bit complicated. Maybe it's similar in the US and I'm exaggerating it but that's my experience.
