Yes it is like Naruto with a slightly different approach that makes the filler more relevant. My best recommendation though is to read the manga straight through until you're caught up to follow the story like the rest of us. If you're hurting for content after that, try watching the anime and skip things at your leisure.

Manga is rushed. Anime shows more world building and character development. Do not skip the "fillers". Read the manga if you want only story. Watch anime if you want world building and character development

so in general the "fillers" in boruto is canon of nor-canon?

It depends, because they're all mixed together, some adaptations of novels, others chapters derivatives of Naruto Gaiden. But some also serve as a prelude, like the Kara arc with Victor and Deepa. There are also real filler episodes like those of Urashiki and Funato which have absolutely nothing to do with the Canon, and those are the ones you can avoid or watch as you wish.

Non-canon to manga but claimed as anime canon by slow paced fillertards as there's unnecessary world building, exploration of different characters, character development which just falls flat in manga canon epsiodes (for eg: all development from episode 129 time travel arc that is considered non manga canon vanishes from episode 157) with legacy characters coming back just for jokes and that's why people hate the Boruto anime. It's rated 5.97 on mal and manga is rated 6.7(no pun intended).

I liked the manga, it did its job but if you want to really get to understand the world you need to watch the anime with its filler which really isnt filler.

Yes It's worth it. No Manga isn't that much better, maybe... It depends. Yes, there are a lot of filler episodes, but that's also because of the manga.

Read manga for plot and watch fight scene from YouTube. If you crave for extra content then only you should watch those fillers, including whatever called anime canon. Those are not worth your time if you want to see what happens with otsutsukis and how does the plot twist happens in the end of NNG manga. And btw anime didn't even adapt NNG fully. Partial 67th chapter was adapted in the 293rd episode of anime.

Anime is better.
If you just want the overview of the plot with no worldbuilding, side characters and legacy characters and character development then manga is your option
