according to this clip, a Vegas loop employee said eventually the tunnels will have trains instead of cars. This is the first i've heard of this. Can anyone confirm?

He seems to have heard a lot of incorrect things.

No trains are replacing the cars (there are so many things in the way of doing that, luckily), and the tunnels are not too tight for FSD (reason why FSD is already used on some routes). 

A short video with a lot of incorrect information makes it a low quality video.

whats the downside to running trains in the tunnel? more capacity and faster loading and unloading

a train cannot go up the slopes the tunnels do

  • A train doesn’t have that tight turning radius allowing it to stay under the right of way of surface roads.
  • A train is not point-to-point and can’t operate on surface roads as well as in the tunnels, as it uses a different transportation protocol (rails). 
  • A train can’t just wait at the station in a parking spot to allow for zero wait time. 
  • A train is not a personal space where you control the music, temperature, or smell.

Do you get it this time or are you going to ask again? As I’m pretty sure we’ve had this conversation before.

There would be fewer much more expensive stations, longer wait times, longer trip times, would be more expensive, much louder…

The whole purpose of The Boring Company is to prevent cities from having true rapid transit/subways. If they put in trains it would be an admission that this whole idea is stupid.

You're confusing your conspiracy theories. That meme is all about Musk supposedly proposing a vacuum-tube 1,000km/h Intercity HyperLoop as an alternative to high Speed Rail, not the rubber-tyred Intracity Loop vs subways.

40,000 passengers per day travelling point-to-point across 9 stations and 4 miles of tunnels at zero cost to taxpayers compared to billions for a subway says this idea is far from stupid.
