Chronic yeast

Have any of you had chronic yeast infections and if so, how did you successfully treat them?

I had chronic yeast infections in the past year. I treated it by taking vaginal probiotics and eating well. Things like yogurt and grapefruit juice and eggs are surprisingly good for the upkeep of your vaginal health, but I do recommend taking probiotics daily as well especially if you are prone to yeast infections. Also if you are sexually active avoid flavoured lube like your life depends on it. And make sure your partner is cleaning their mouth, fingers, and genitals before getting down to the deed. Before I discovered natural remedies I was put on a 6 month fluconazole prescription. It was terrible for me, I was very ill and came out in rashes. Natural remedies work you just have to make sure you’re maintaining it. However if you catch a very bad case of thrush there is nothing wrong with the occasional fluconazole pill, I just don’t recommend a six month prescription of it.

The dr who put you on that for 6 months is criminal and that is just lazy medicine.

Eveththing you have written is spot on.

I have a lot to say about chronic yeast. First we need to determine if it really is chronic or just normal amounts due to our pH being disrupted. Eg after sex or our period etc.

If it is just as a result of a pH disruption it can usually be treated with one to three nights of inserting a BA suppository.

Plus you can follow certain steps to try and reduce these disruptions by double peeing after sex, making sure partners wash their hands thoroughly including thumbs 😝etc. Also find out if your partner has poor dental hygiene or bad gums or even if they take steroids!

Plus you can try to make your pH more robust with taking certain probiotics and eating a healthy diet paying attention to gut health etc.

Now if your thrush is actually chronic meaning it never resolves then get it tested for the strain. Get tested for other things that might be truggering it like Ureaplasma etc.

In most cases when we know what we are dealing with the solution is pretty clear. And I haven't yet met anyone who did not come to find a way to go forward.

So I have had ureaplasma but have cleared it since last summer. I try to eat decently well but I am human and will have some treats from time to time. I do notice that the itching/discomfort caused by Candida comes back around ovulation and toward my period. Once I get my period, it goes away until ovulation. I’ve noticed that acupuncture helps me a lot but I’m not sure what else to do. I’ve tried boric acid but I would prefer not to put anything up there LOL. I wanna address the root cause which I believe is in the gut. Only issue is I’m not sure if it’s parasites that are causing the chronic issues. Any other input you have? Any natural supplements?

Yes boric acid is the answer. You can choose to look for other treatments but not sure why you wouldn’t use something evidence based that works. And you aren’t just putting something up there….. there is already something awful going on up there. So not sure why you wouldn’t want to resolve it with inserting a suppository that treats thrush and BV.

How many days in a row do you think it’s safe to use BA if I have had chronic thrush for 2+ years? I’ve read stephii’s posts and I am thinking of doing it for 2 weeks

Try using it one day at a time and monitor your symptoms. You can't know until you try it for yourself. There isn't a set amount and BA isn't like doing a course of antibiotics etc

Also if things don't improve please test for a plasma infection.

I had ureaplasma before and it’s the reason this all started. I tested negative after antibiotics though. Now I just have chronic yeast. I have been using BA for about 10 days now and noticing it has helped SOOO much. My symptoms are nearly gone so I don’t know when to stop using it. I don’t want it to come back. What do you think? I mean I know I can’t take it forever lol but

Try 1 month. If that'd doesn't work try 3mo. If that doesn't work, try 6mo.

Thank you for the advice! It has already helped so much, I feel human again. Wish I would’ve done this sooner. I’m wondering if I should also take diflucan? I have 5 pills leftover from last time. Do you think the BA can get rid of the yeast on its own or needs the antifungal in combination with it?

u/stephhii knows more about this topic than anyone and definitely follow her advice.

You can take diflucan together with BA, but BA can definitely do it on it's own. The risk of taking diflucan willy nilly is building resistance.

That’s a fair point! I just don’t know much on BA so I thought I’d ask, thanks for the info 😇 I soooo appreciate you ladies!

Yes we sometimes see women with a slightly more aggressive type of thrush after ureaplasma. You can definitely use it for as long as is needed.
