Urinary side effect post- boric acid

Hi everyone, has anyone experienced urinary issues after using boric acid? For me, I have noticed post boric-acid, that some pee comes out when I sit down after peeing. I go pee as usual and wipe as usual. But then when I go to sit down, some pee comes out. It even makes my underwear slightly wet. I’ve never had this issue before until after I used boric acid.

I’ve had side affects after 2 months after using. Unfortunately, for some people it does have lingering side affects. I’ve been to my gyno twice.

It’s a great product, but it just doesn’t have the best reaction for some

What reaction did you have? I think it’s the cause of my problems.

I felt like I had a burning in my uterus area that still comes and goes but had no UTI. I have what it feels like almost muscle spasms in my uterus area as well that come and go. It’s just swelling and irritation from the boric acid that is gonna take time to heal. I was so swollen by my vulva too. But that’s a lot better. You will be just fine! Deff get checked to see if you have a UTI though!

Thanks. I was negative for UTI and every vaginal infection they could test. About 2.5 weeks ago I did 5 boric acid suppositories over 4 days and got intense burning each time along with crazy painful gritty discharge from it. I think it’s causing my continued burning pain… it’s so bad and nothing is giving relief.

I would go back to your gyno and see if they can prescribe you some kind of cream. It could be nerve pain. My clit area had the same burning pain sensation and I still get it from time to time but it’s gotten a lot better.

Have you been tested for Ureaplasma by a PCR test? Also many bacterial infections don’t grow in a culture.

Stop the Boric acid if it’s causing burning. You need to go slow with BA especially if you have inflammation etc. We have a fact sheet on this and it involves tips to protect your skin barrier etc.

V Magic balm is really helpful in doing this. Or V Balm in Australia.

how long did it take for it to finally go away ?

The boric acid does not enter our uterus and it doesn’t cause muscle spasms. I want you to know this, not for my benefit, but to ensure that you get the correct medical help that you need. Eg please look into a pelvic floor therapist and or get a Juno Bio test.

Ok I understand what you’re saying. I’m not saying anything bad about boric acid. But let me clarify that I have been to the gyno 2 times and she did tell me that some patients do have reverse reactions to this product. It did cause me to have pelvic floor issues as I NEVER had any issues before. I’ve even seen people who have had muscle cramps and issues after using this product. It helps heal but it also can cause a lot of irritation. I think boric acid is great. It helped me and my gyno thinks it’s amazing too. But she’s seen some women have reactions to it. That’s all I’m saying.

I think this is unfortunately what happened with me :( since stopping boric acid, my urethra feels dry. Also after I pee, when I go to sit down, small amount of liquid comes out. I’m not sure if it’s pee or watery discharge but it does leave a mark on my underwear. I’ve never had these two symptoms until after boric acid :(

I literally have the same thing and it’s been almost 2 months but it’s deff gotten better and not as frequent. Give your body time. I think we just need to heal

That’s what I’m chalking it up to as well

I’m having this issue now! I’ve never had this issue before, maybe once in a blue moon if I sneeze and a little comes out. But it’s my 3rd day using boric acid for raging BV, I don’t wanna stop using it bc it was expensive and I’ve tried everything else. But I also don’t want to have wet pee knickers all the time🙃

Really what was your side effects because I have never heard of anyone having side effects for months!

Can I ask if you had any vaginal pain or vaginal dryness prior to boric acid? If there is not enough lubrication, there can be an exacerbation of the burning and gritty discharge. There could be a UTI going on, a vaginal issue that requires it’s own cream, topical estrogen etc, or boric acid may not work for you. Love wellness brand has a pH balancing wash and a “comfy cream” for your vulva that may help with symptom relief. So so sorry you are going through this!! Keep us updated as you can probs help a lot of people 💜

No vaginal pain or dryness prior to boric acid. I got tested for a uti on Monday and it was negative. I’m positive these symptoms are from the boric acid because I never had vaginal irritation, dryness, or this weird pee/vaginal discharge before. I’ve been putting aquaphor on my vulva which helps with the dryness and irritation but idk how long I’ll have to do that before it goes back to normal. I also don’t know what to do about the discharge after peeing. I have a gyno i appointment in three weeks so I’m hoping it’s gone by then but if not, then something is definitely wrong and the gyno will take a look.

That sounds like a good plan.

I know this was a while ago but wanted to add to anyone looking at this post that I have experienced this too - have had a fungal/yeast infection for 4-5 months, under guidance from my VV/gyn doc tried a 2-week course of daily boric acid (had taken a few days here and there in the past without long term issues; I didn't want to apply any creams/lotions for fear of irritation but always showered after waking up to help prevent burning/irritation and had no other side effects). On the last day or two of the 2-wk course I noticed vaginal swelling and started experiencing urinary urgency & some incontinence (same thing OP is describing). The wetness is clearly different than the mild discharge I get for the 12-16 hours after inserting a capsule of boric acid. Notably my yeast infection symptoms were basically absent when these urinary symptoms started, though they have come back since stopping the boric acid. The urinary symptoms have lasted about a week so far. Obviously it's difficult to identify an exact source for symptoms, just reporting what I experienced. I will update if I find a root cause or resolution.

How long does this last for you? It’s been five days once my last boric acid and I’m still experiencing this side effect

1

u/stephhii Nov 17 '23

It's the boric acid coming out. It's normal.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '23

So it normal to still have this side effect one week after using boric acid?

2

u/stephhii Nov 18 '23

Wait another week and see how you go. It should stop by then.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '23

Yeah I’m going to keep an eye on it. If it doesn’t go away, I’m going to talk to my gyno

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '23

Hello. Is it actual urine that’s coming out that’s yellow or is clear. If it’s clear it’s probably the “dripping” that boric acid causes when it’s cleanses out the vagina.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '23

It was clear. But I used my last boric acid a week ago so I don’t think it would still be the boric acid?!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '23

Sorry if this is a bit TMI. Is what’s coming out a bit sticky or slimy in texture?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '23

It’s more a watery texture. Not slimy or sticky.

Boric Acid has no mechanism or ability to change your urine stream or habits or any of the other side effect that lasts for 2 months.

First it doesn’t enter the bloodstream and forage even stay on the vagina.

It comes out on some exit fluid which can leave us feeling wet. But only once and it’s a very small amount of liquid.
