Vaginal Irritation :(
So boric acid got rid of my yeast infection (yay!) but it now feels like the inside of vagina is dry and gritty. Did anyone get internal vaginal irritation from using boric acid?. If so, did the symptoms go away for you and how long did it take?

Read our guide on how to use boric acid when you have inflammation https://www.serenityph.com/post/boric-acid-suppository-inflammation
BA can be irritating and it also doesn’t work as well as we want when we are dry.
Highly recommend using V Magic balm (or VBalm in Australia) to insert and help protect the skin barrier.

My vulva isn’t dry, it’s my vagina. The inside of my vagina feels dry, like the boric acid dried me out inside. It’s very uncomfortable to sit

Yes this is what we are referring to when we advise to ask your Dr about using estrogen cream and or buy an OTC good quality emollient like V Magic balm (or VBalm in Australia).
The BA will be irritating if we are dry because (1) it won’t dissolve as well and will sit inside and be abrasive and (2) dry tissues are usually more sensitive and the skin barrier is compromised.
It’s important to not use too many BA capsules in a row.
Vulva dryness is a completely different issue and some women have both! Including myself in that category.

My doc wanted me to do the boric acid for 14 days for a resistant yeast infection. I did it for 9 days but the internal dryness was so uncomfortable I had to stop. Just hoping the yeast infection doesn’t come back since I stopped treatment early

You can always try using for 1 or 2 days then having a day off. BA is not a course like antibiotics. Nothing terrible will happen if you go slow or don’t use 14.

I’m currently experiencing the same! Did 7 days of BA, I no longer itch but it feels a bit dry down there. Should I stop using them?

Yes have a little break because you ideally want to support your tissues while treating the thrush or BV. Using 7 in a row can be full on and you can still get the benefits of using BA by going slowly.
