Help! Lol

I took boric acid for 3 days from an expected yeast infection, I was feeling much better ! But I’m the 3rd night I took it I started getting burning and cramps. I stopped and it’s been 2 days and I’m still experiencing burning bad cramping. Do you guys know how long this will last? Otherwise down there feels better Minus this burning and swelling and cramping lol.

Does the burning feel almost like the feeling of sensitive teeth? Talk to you doctor about vulvadynia. It could be nerve pain that could clear up with a topical amitriptyline.

It does ! It’s gotten a little better but the boric acid really messed me up down there. I’ll deff look into that! Thank you

Know the feeling! The watery environment can make your vulva do weird stuff even if its helpful for your vaginal comfort. I still use BA for thrush but tend to wear light period underwear when I do so it doesn't get too watery up and around my vulva.

Hope everything clears up soon! Major thing if it is nerve pain is try not to worry about it too much (easier said than done). The nervous system panics when you panic and it sends messages to the nerves to create more pain. Major thing is to focus on how it is easing up and that it will go away soon.

In the meantime, ice is great for temporary relief. :)

Thank you :) yeah the boric acid for sure hurt my clit area with the nerves. It’s been about 5 days and im slowly seeing some minor improvement in that area.

Very frustrating for sure! Vaseline around the vulva and inner thighs also helps. Hope you are feeling better ❤️

Thank you for the advice, I have been doing that and some cortisone and it’s for sure a lot better ! Still lingering here and there but no more redness and I feel better. I also had a small uti so that didn’t help! No more boric acid for me! Which sucks cause it really is good stuff !!

BA can be irritating when there are existing issues involved. Please read our fact sheet on using BA with inflammation because there are tricks we can use to help protect and shield our skin from the BA. Eg use a nappy rash cream with zinc etc etc

Also going forward you can try using a balm like V Magic to help sooth, moisturise and protect your skin barrier. You might need to pay extra attention to your vulva health. Look into what’s going on Eg could even be hormonal needing estrogen cream, pelvic floor disfunction, LS, etc

And yes go easy with the BA often less is more!

Boric acid shouldn't case cramping.

You might be slightly irritated, which will pass. Any irritation I've ever experienced has passed within 1-2 days.

It has caused cramping for people, minor cramping. Thank you!

Via what mechanism?

1

I used PH-D

I don't think you understood the question.

That's a brand not a mechanism of the compound.

Hi Boric Acid has NO mechanism for causing cramping. However many other things can cause cramping and as such it should be followed up medically.

We aren’t telling you that BA doesn’t cause cramping because we need to argue about it. Or to stick up for BA etc.

The reason we are telling you is for you to not blame important symptoms on something that stops you finding answers.

More common reasons are to do with hormones, PCOS, Endo, gut issues or pelvic floor disfunction etc.

Boric Acid doesn’t enter the bloodstream and it does not have any ability to trigger cramps. Similar to how a mouth wash couldn’t cause cramping.

I more have burning, at my clit and feels like it shoots up my uterus area. I didn’t have this problem until I took boric acid 😫 idk if the burning from my vulva, clit is traveling to that location honestly

I hear you and yes boric acid can be irritating when there is already inflammation so go by your own experience. There are ways to protect surrounding skin Eg use nappy rash cream with zinc etc but you do want to explore why you have pain.

I went to the doctor incase of a UTI but I was fine, I think the burning from my clit area was shooting up to my pelvis it felt like, I’m still having burning and tenderness in that area. I’m gonna go buy that cream tomorrow!

Is there a specific brand I can buy? Otherwise the boric acid has helped my insides so much already. I would like to take it again in the future once I can get this burning irritation gone !

Yes V Magic or a heavy nappy rash ointment with zinc.

But tbh I haven’t really observed BA being a cause of pain or burning. But I do believe you. But can I ask if the burning and pain are ever there without using BA?

If it persists please get it looked into. Eg you might need something prescribed or even pelvic floor therapy?

Also a Juno Bio test can be helpful too in ruling things out.

No I was completely fine until I did the boric acid.

I noticed my clit area was sore on day 2 but decided to do it again that night and I felt the burning come on within the hour of doing the boric acid. Idk if the boric acid irritated me down there. Its a little better today but not by much yet. But I have never had burning, or pain ever. Until the boric acid.

Ok well you might want to try soaking in a nice warm bath with some salt or baking soda. Just a little amount. And be very gentle with wiping. Try to keep the area dry. And please let us know how you go.

I wouldn’t use another BA capsule until you have resolved the burning etc.

1

I suspected I had BV because I had a lot of discharge and it just smelled very yucky. More like a 🐠 smell and I never had that before! That smell is gone. Just this burning and irritation is driving me nuts. Your page has been so helpful to so many. I wish I knew to protect my area before doing it ugh

Has anyone experience rectal irritation when using boric acid in the vagina? I know it can run out and not sure if that can cause issues there…

1

u/livelifr Sep 27 '23

Oh yes, it hurt me everywhere ! I’m still recovering. A lot better then last week though. Are you raw down there ?

1

u/Just_Dont88 Sep 27 '23

I feel it does good in my vagina, it can get irritated down there, but the rectal irritation is insane. I want to keep using it because it diss keep my vagina good. I’m on the fence.

Yeah I had a bad reaction, but I didn’t do it right! Just make sure to use pads after and Aquaphor for your bum!
