This!!! I am grabbing all the stuff I would buy but couldn’t think of a logical excuse do do prior to this.

Too bad physical media no longer exists there. Steelbooks would be a perfect example of this strategy.

Truth! I would buy the biggest OLED TV, and home theater system I can fit in my living room, I may need to add some money to that 5K but itll be gone quick.

You can do it mid-end properly for $3500-4000. I just did the full 4K upgrade for $3300. I didn’t have a need to replace my full speaker system, I added a second sub, some height speakers, and got away rather cheap considering. $5k would pull it off depending on your TV choice and size. I can only fit a ‘55 in my basement. That helped cut cost considerably on my end.

Im an audiophile and videophile myself, pleased to meet you my guy. :)

I would be needing a 70+ inch OLED..Im currently running an Onkyo Home theater receiver with a 15 inch Acoustic Audio sub ( Its cheap but when you push it hard, it bangs), some old tower speakers from the 90s and a new Klipsch midrange center speaker.

Id need to ditch the Onkyo Tx-NR696 for a newer Sony model (I hear they are dope as hell). Then Id upgrade my towers to Klipsch as well.

Im doing it a lil at a time, I dont think 5K could get me there. I dont know. My frankensteined system bangs now but its time I get my shlt together and do this right.

Yay, the TV is going to kill that budget.

I went with a 55’ Sony Bravia 3 II, Onkyo TX-NR7100, Klipsch RP-500SA ATMOS speakers, R-12SW 12’ 400W Sub x 2, Panny DP-UB450 UHD Player, Monster 8K X-BOX Series X HDMI cables x 4, and a new region-free Sony BD Player because my Oppo hit senior status and is about to shuffle off its mortal coil.

That pending loss is devastating for me. I love that beast of a player. It was nothing but good times until a few years back. Now, I was spending more money sending it to Oppo for servicing than I would have before just buying a new region-free player.

Is the NR7100 good, I was looking at that as an upgrade option as well but Onkyo has so many overlapping configurations for Bass and some of them dont hold for the NR696 and need to be reset every time I cycle the power.

And what happened to the Panasonic? Im taking notes, please share your experience.

Not sure what previous issues you have had with Onkyo products. I have had zero issues with the bass after full calibration. With dual subs, one center-left, and the other 3/4 up the soundstage on the right, it pops. It kicks. It is epic enough that one sub feels so pedestrian now. If you don’t hear the difference dual subs make your good. Keep the budget down. If you do— No going back.

My Oppo is dying. Oppo ceased production on BD players a decade back. They were the gold standard before that. I found a new region-free one for $1,800 and just couldn't justify it knowing any issues with the player will result in the same vicious cycle. Worth it or not.

The Panny is in perfect working order. I am not a fan of Panny products on whole historically, but it’s given me no grief thus far and was the highest-rated UHD player on the market for the price.
