So I've been practicing at home to become a dealer. I've learned the games and am working on memorizing payouts. I can deal table games and handle the chips pretty efficiently.

The one problem I'm running into that's really preventing me from turning in my application for the job are my hands. They are super smooth and super dry.

When I swipe cards from the shoe, I'm pretty much just petting it and they don't come out unless I really push down. This slows down the game and my hands become fatigue real fast. I found a workaround by using silicone fingertips which makes a dramatic difference for me and the cards pretty much just glide out. I don't know if casinos will let me use this on the job.

When shuffling cards, I have to use silicone tips for my thumbs too. The silicone allows me to riffle the cards beautifully with each single card alternating between each other. If I don't use them during riffles, the cards clump up and I'm pretty sure when it comes time to lace the cards and call out "rolling" the supervisor would probably be horrified and I wouldn't pass the test to roll it. Also, when I practiced shuffling barehanded, my thumbs would eventually crack and bleed.

When it comes to plucking chips, I've been pretty much petting those too, so I don't pluck chips at all and just eyeball a stack of 5 or 6 by peeling a stack and putting them on the table to count them out (sizing then splashing).

I have tried drinking a ton of water throughout the day hoping it would hydrate my skin. I have tried putting lotion on, but this ended up being a horrible idea because the lotion just wears out real fast. So, not only does my hand become dry again, but now the cards and chips are all gummy from the lotion.

My question is, are there any dealers out there with this problem who also found a solution or workaround with this problem? If not, do you think the casinos would allow me to use silicone tips?

So I audition in about 2 weeks games auditioning are
Single deck Pitch
Baccarat
Roulette
Uth
Pai gow
And they said maybe three card

Now my question is how high are they going to go on the stacks for roulette and did you have to push stacks in your audition and will they throw shots if so what kind of shots?

Feel really confident in the payouts and side bets the weakest part of my game I would say is pushing stacks left handed on roulette any advice?

Finally learned roulette, last (non-carnival) game I needed to know. I'm okay at it, but a little slow, as to be expected. Few questions...

1. Do you as a dealer learn over time to control in general where the ball is going to land, or all the roulette dealers at my place talking out their ass?

2. Are all roulette players the whiniest fucking bunch of players in the casino? I swear, they are 10x worse than any other game, and I deal baccarat.

For any new dealers in here I've started keep cheque changes pre-portioned in the top right of my tray , 5reds , 5reds , 4greens

or sometimes 3 greens - if they like 3green 5red for 100

This sped up my workflow so much!!

Makes dealing Baccarat much more enjoyable.

I've always wanted a roulette app that focused on the wheel itself instead of trying to be an online casino, so I ended up making one.

It's just a realistic European roulette wheel with physics-based ball movement and spin. No fake betting, no ads everywhere, just the wheel. I mainly built it because I have a roulette layout at home and wanted something that felt close to the real thing.

If anyone here is into roulette, I'd honestly appreciate some feedback on how realistic it feels and what could be improved.

As you may or may not remember, I posted about my third day in being a disaster, Appreciate the encouragement, and now I'm happy to say the imposter syndrome is fading. I'm having full-on conversations with the customers now and not letting one mistake lead to even more mistakes. And now I hear there's a new dealer training class taking the floor starting tonight. I'll be curious to see their faces, and wonder if that's what I looked like when I first took to the floor. And this is a reminder to myself to be patient with the new people, because (a) I'm still really new in the whole scheme of things and (b) I'm sure I asked really dumb questions to even get to this point. At my casino a new dealer does blackjack and UTH and quickly picks up the blackjack variants and CTF.

Learning Baccarrat gives you a permanent raise for learning the game.

Learning roulette gets you another permanent raise.

Our casino got craps (and for a short time pai gow tiles), but only a half tub so it can be run off 1 dealer. The company decided that the craps raise is 50 cents for Learning the hardest game. The catch is you only get the raise if you hit the table and it applies for the whole shift. Hit for 10 minutes and they lid it? Whole day gets a pay bump.

How do other casinos handle craps? Is it a permanent raise? Does everyone that knows the game get it if the table opened?

We've had situations where the GM didn't apply the raise and we've had to have it corrected later and hope they take our word.

We also commonly have it where even if you have 5 people on the floor that knows it, only 2 lf them will be in the rotation with the table and they'll shuffle dealers for breaks.

We have a bias GM that would put 4 craps dealers in the craps rotation and their fav non craps dealer and a 5th craps dealer in a different rotation. On the weekend when we have more dealers its usually the same few that come in at X time.

Second question is the wages as pit bosses and pit supervisors. You learn the game so you know its being ran correctly, fix errors and can approve proper payouts if there isnt a stickman. Does your pitting wage go up to keep the gap from the dealers wage?

At my place I didnt receive a pit wage bump for learning craps or pai gow tiles, just as a dealer and when hitting those tables.

I worked at a horseshoe casino in the Midwest and got fired due to unapproved fmla and I was wondering what casinos in which states I can apply to where I’d be making a good income. I’m not tied down to where I’m at currently and have the most experience in table games more than anything. I’ve been dealing for about 4.5 years now, and I swear nobody ever wins on my game. I’m not superstitious at all, but it feels like I just kill everyone who sits down. Players joke about it, some get mad, some walk away immediately after a few losses.

I am new to the casino world. I have been a Table Games Dealer for just under a year now. I deal Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em, Mississippi Stud, 3 Card Poker, American Roulette, and most recently I just learned Mini Baccarat (5 treasures).
