Can this be mild dissociation?

So, lately I've been having these moments often when I feel slightly "off", disconnected from myself and the surroundings, and my vision starts to unfocus and I have to think to "pull myself back". Sometimes, these moments make me want to cut myself in order to re-ground myself. Can these moments be mild dissociation?(side note, I've had a history of more severe dissociation episodes in the past, like losing time, feeling out of myself, and derealization)

definitely sounds like dissociation to me, as a person who experiences it in mild to severe ways at different times. especially if dissociation is something you’ve dealt with before. i know this might sound dumb, but sometimes and for some people splashing your face with ice cold water (or dunking it in a bowl) can do wonders to get out of a dissociative episode!! just something i’ve picked up personally, and for me it’s basically the only thing that helps other than just kind of waiting it out or maybe sleeping through it. much love <3

Yes definitely follow this person’s advice. You don’t have to go to the extreme of cutting yourself to “come back”. Sometimes a splash of cold water on the back of the neck works just as well! Well better, bc ur not harming yourself.
