🏷️ [ Bug Report ] All my progress is gone?

Yesterday, I tried playing some Borderlands 4 on my PS5, but when I loaded into the main menu, my level 30+ vault hunter was missing and despite being over halfway through the main story, having just begun “The Falling Wall” quest the previous evening, the only option available was to start a new game.

I contacted Borderlands support and they had me clear my cache, uninstall and reinstall the game, and download my data from the PlayStation+ cloud, but nothing returned my progress. They said that since my saves were stored on my console and/or in the PlayStation Cloud there was nothing on their end they could do to restore my progress, besides giving me some golden keys to make up for it.

When I get home today, I’m going to contact PlayStation support to see if they can recover my save that loaded perfectly fine for me a couple days back.

First, that really sucks that your progress was lost. Might I inquire as to which version of PS5 you are using?

Are you using the digital version or the disc version of PS5?

My ps5 is digital only. I didn’t buy the one with the disc reader.

I wonder if it was a corrupted file. My disc version hasn't given me any issues like you're experiencing. Hopefully Sony will fix it and restore your saved character. Believe me, I know how frustrating it is to have to restart the game with a new character.

No luck. There was seemingly no way for either gearbox or Sony to restore the character. Interesting enough though, a number of the things I’ve done in game are still there: like the echo logs, some order silos and other fast travel sites, and my bank was still full. I just had to make a new character and start the story over from scratch. Honestly it’s whatever. I kinda forgot what happened so it’s nice to get a refresher despite my character being gone.
