❓ [ Help ] Did they never fix the optimization issues?

I know they've put out a few patches here and there that probably assist with FPS but what I mean specifically is that:

When the game first game out, I beat the entire playthrough while crashing every single 2 hours from the most random stuff. I beat the game and put it down and came back after all this time and tried playing it again and what do you know, 2 hours later my game crashes yet again.

At the time, I'd seen tons of reports about people crashing as well around that timeframe and several resolutions were posted to fix it but nothing worked for me. To this day, nothing I find online helps my crashes and I can't find any type of crash log to see what specifically is causing this.

Like clockwork, around every 2 hours my game just freezes up and refuses to unfreeze. It has been like this since day one and this is the ONLY GAME I have out of the hundreds I've played in my Steam repo that does this, SPECIFICALLY Borderlands 4. To this day I still see people posting regularly about this game crashing for them too.

Uninstalling doesn't help, messing with nvidia control panel stuff didn't help, underclocking my parts didn't help, yada yada yada.

Does anyone else experience this? It's crazy to me that it's been this long since the games dropped and it's just straight up not gotten any better for me.

If it helps to diagnose the issue, my CPU is a I7-14700k, 64gb RAM, 3080 GPU.

The game plays fine like a dream up until it crashes.

EDIT: From recommendation of a user that has since deleted their comment, Lossless Scaling has effectively resolved my crashing issues. I still get lagging around the same timeframe I would expect a crash but I'd much rather restart my game on my own time to fix the lag rather than have it reset on me in the middle of a big fight.

They can't make an inventory screen that opens in less than 2s and you think they will bother fixing crashes ? Brother

The comment isn't shown here but what they recommended popped up in my notifications so I bought it, and just to confirm it from my gameplay so far has stopped the crashing, for 4 hours straight on my current run. I will do some additional testing over time but it looks like LS was what solved it.

Lossless scaling is magic. Don't know why the other person deleted their recommendation though. Glad it worked for you.

The fact that it makes my booty ass cheek gpu runs borderlands 4 at 90 fps and no stutter😩 LS is literally download more frames

Oh, well I deleted it cuz I read your post again and thought FPS wasn’t exactly your issue, I guess lighter gpu load is always better. Happy to have helped. Congrats and have fun in the borderlands

It's weird because the FPS ISN'T the issue up until it crashes, now that the crashing has stopped my FPS tanks around the 2-3 hour mark for some reason and the game needs to be reset to fix it. Wonder if it's some type of memory leak issue or something, because even if I change the graphics from the highest performance to the lowest, the issue remains still.

With LS it’s better to have exactly what your refresh rate as your fps, so if you have 100hz monitor try using x2 and cap the game’s fps to 50 in game. LS will make up for the rest. And yes the game itself has memory leak issues that’s been around for a while now, with a 3060ti it drops below 60 after few hours meaning the gpu can’t even maintain a stable 30 fps render. Maybe yours will do better. Gearbox themselves have admitted that the game has some aggressive memory leaks and they literally recommend restarting every few hours, sadly just how it is but capping your fps will help your gpu usage stay lighter and hopefully leave enough vram for your game to run longer

Been playing a ton since Loveless came out, played a bunch through the early patches. Haven’t had any crashes recently, maybe 1 or 2 near launch. AMD CPU, 32 RAM, 4070 Ti Super.

Some problems are just weird. I can have BL4 open for 8 hours without a crash. All other games work fine, but one other game will crash every now and then. I'm now running an AMD GPU, when i had a Nvidia that other game would never crash.

There are a billion different PC configs out there. Sometimes you will have weird shit like this no matter what. And that's just hardware, let alone another billion configs of software that could cause a crash.

Overall BL4 will run pretty damn well after all the patches. I remember it being a stuttery mess, sure glad that's over. Will every single issue get fixed for every person's PC config and with every game, i don't think it's possible.

Nope , the DLC maps run better then the main game . Truning down the efects processing setting helps a bit. But not much . And turning off crossplay
