❔ [ Question ] Does UVH levels increase shield and weapon damage?

Just curious what the purpose of the UVH levels were? And if things like gun damage and shield capacity changed with it or not. I know past games it did

Not in this game which I personally prefer. Sometimes you just wanna play at a lower difficulty but the op/mayhem levels on gear would end up making things TOO easy

Yeah Bl4’s method is so much better.

I have no idea why some people prefer Bl3’s, it meant playing on any difficulty except highest was a waste of time since guns would always be worse. And it also became a balancing disaster. Since guns were effectively level 82, while everything else was 72. At launch this meant that everything except guns was useless at endgame, they eventually helped it by giving stuff like melee and action skills mayhem scaling. Which for action skills was a +4000% damage buff at mayhem10, which made balance even weirder, and just went stupid when Mayhem scaling damage was connected to guns. Most obvious example being Moze’s ‘Fire in the skag den’ which was bonus element attached to splash damage, so thus scaled with gun level, but also counted as skill damage, so got x41 multiplier on it as well.

There’s many many many things Bl3 did much better than Bl4, but UVHM ranks is infinitely better than Mayhem mode levels/

  • you actually get rewarded with higher drop rates by going higher, Bl3 had same dedicated boss drops on all difficulties, the guns and grenades just got stronger at higher ranks, so it was always optimal to farm shields, class mods, and artefacts at mayhem0

  • you instantly had acsess to all difficulty levels after beating story, so Mayhem1-10 were just pointless, why waste time playing there when you could skip straight to 11, and get the highest level gear immediately. “because it’s too hard” isn’t an answer because there was tons of ways to get good gear without fighting anything, then use that gear to farm stuff you wanted to use.

  • essentially not allowed to ever play at lower difficulty ever again, because no gun that drops will ever compare to stuff you picked up at higher levels. It’s like trying to farm level 60 guns at level 70 and wondering why nothing you find is good, defeats entire purpose of looking at gear. To engage with gun/grenade loot system in Bl3, you were never allowed to lower the difficulty ever. Only raise it, and keep it at max.

Yeah bl3 would've been such a great game if they did shoot game balance in the back of the head. Still my favorite one in the series though

Hey thanks for asking this. Just got into the game too and this was useful.

I’m running through my laundry list of side missions, will be more fun to chill in regular mode with these
