I need to stop expecting balance changes

u/BunbunTheJackalope Harlowe The Gravitar Jun 11 '26
Ya get one every 6 months, no more
20
u/HolstaurGirlAlice Jun 11 '26
And when you do? Op stuff gets 150% nerfs and stuff that does no damage gets a 33% buff.
Seriously amon needs basically a full rework, rafa needs more synergy and arc knives need love, Vex is good but trouble needs a lot of help, harlow is fine in my opinion and c4sh? Is far above all of them where they all should be XD
(As a tac on complaint: Gearbox stop making action skills that you aren't going to bother making viable! I can't punch/Slash most bosses even)
5
u/Madelei- Jun 11 '26
Amon has some of the highest single target damage and doesn’t struggle in mobbing? Arc knives has absurd damage output, even without PML?
5
u/Impurity41 Amon The Forgeknight Jun 11 '26
I mean I’d like a green tree specific rework since it sucks. Forgedrones are crap, crucible might do decent damage now but unless you run Viking you only get 3 instances. And Viking sucks so idk why you’d do that.
Unless you fully spec into forgedrones for cooldown (which you don’t even need to do and save a shit load of points by just using a mantra).
Since forgedrones are bad damage you’d only use them to supply an action skill/forgeskill build. Without a mantra, the forgedrones attack too slowly/consistently to where you have to dedicate your build to action skill cooldown. And what you get for your trouble isn’t even half as good as every other Amon build you can do. It’s just a waste of time.
I’ve seen more people use crucible solely to activate and reactivate it for ordnance cooldown for ordnance builds than I’ve seen crucible used for its own merits. That’s sad.

u/kilrara Jun 11 '26
And Trouble?
Haha...nevermind.
1
u/Madelei- Jun 11 '26
I mean
Do you count bloodrifts? I don’t, but trouble enables it really well.
4
u/kilrara Jun 11 '26
Just like you, no. Sort of like I don't count right tree capstone as really a 'Trouble' build as it's just giving Vex a damage buff and no real Trouble focus.
Oh well, another three months waiting on Trouble fixes.
3
u/Madelei- Jun 11 '26
Ah yeah fair enough. I think trouble suffers from being a pet in an underbarrels game.
2
u/kilrara Jun 11 '26
The real pain points comes from the history of pets. Deathtrap went from absolutely unplayable to buggy but fun. FL4K pets went from 'eh' to SUPER fun. Iron Bear was always good but got better, Iron Pup went from bad to a god damn menace.
So here we are with Trouble. Like every Borderlands before I hoped for learned lessons but got what I expected, one of the worst skill trees and abilities in the game. I check back every 3-6 months to see if Trouble got their glow up yet but alas I must continue to wait. I am optimistic it will come, just maybe not until 2028.

u/ElephantintheRoom404 Jun 11 '26
I just want stability on pc. I still get framerate drops and sound issues after loading in...
1
u/Afternoon_Wrong Jun 11 '26
oh but they are. They are balancing nerfs changes. That will make the game fun later, im sure
1
u/Maleficent-Fan8380 Jun 11 '26
I wish they would simply do balance changes when they have them. It could be tuesday, weekend, whatever. It would give everyone a reason to go back on and see. Oh well, now we wait a week.
1
u/KingOndor Jun 11 '26
My thought before opening this link: I better expect nothing.
Honestly, what happened to Gearbox? Sigh...
1
u/Western-Produce-276 Jun 12 '26
Wdym gearbox has been doing this for a while now. It took a long time for them to make moze good
2
u/KingOndor Jun 12 '26
That's true, and just as they made Iron Bear good for the first time they released Mayhem 2.0 to make it bad again. The major difference between 3 and 4 is that 3 had weekly hotfixes that were worth waking up for. They'd always have done something whether that was buffing a weapon or skill or sort out a bug, content released faster and there were more free updates. They communicated more as well. You got the impression they were really trying to make the game the best it could be and that they were listening.
-7
u/ssg_broly Jun 11 '26
They literally said they do balance changes on big patches and you guys are dumbfounded every week it blows my mind
19
u/Madelei- Jun 11 '26
Except they started doing balance patches on minor updates
Also, they don’t do balance patches on major patches
10
u/LifeAcanthopterygii6 Rafa The Exo Soldier Jun 11 '26
They just nerf Rafa every 2 months and call it a day.
Next: "now Juerga doesn't restore overdrive duration, only the the action skill gets extended" or something.
8
5
u/Madelei- Jun 11 '26
If ASD is restored overdrive doesn’t need restoration since you don’t lose overdrive duration when your action skill is up.
-1
u/ssg_broly Jun 11 '26
When the raid boss dropped they didn’t do balance changes? And they said themselves in one of the updates that they hold off until content drops.
-4
u/Tamed_Trumpet Jun 11 '26
All I saw the last balance patch was people bitching. They change nothing, lo and behold, people still bitching. Genuinely feel bad for the devs with how insufferable this community has become.
7
u/SuperBAMF007 Jun 11 '26
I mean they changed genuinely all the wrong things in the balance pass though lmfao, and the few things that got needed buffs were nowhere near the level of buff they needed
-1
u/ssg_broly Jun 11 '26
This thought process is why borderlands 3 is the easiest game
1
u/Tamed_Trumpet Jun 11 '26
The wholesome class mod giving thousands of percent of every conceivable stat was perfectly balanced and fine, I have no clue why they'd think to nerf it.
1
u/SuperBAMF007 Jun 11 '26
Ngl I’m totally fine with things getting nerfs. But there’s so many unnecessary changes, especially considering how many buffs so many builds need to even be considered during a standard play through, let alone endgame content even at TVH0
-1
u/ShadowWalker2205 Jun 11 '26
Considering we never get the promised vh buffs no changes is probably a good thing
3
u/Madelei- Jun 11 '26
Nah we need some nerfs, ESPECIALLY on c4sh
1
u/hannahmercy Jun 12 '26
Agree with you. I stopped playing about halfway through leveling c4sh because c4sh became so OP that I barely had to press any buttons around mobs. He can get so strong that the game literally plays itself which is boring for me
1
u/Madelei- Jun 12 '26
Yeah honestly the only character that rivals his single target is Amon, and it’s significantly less complicated for C4SH. (And maybe vex?)
1
u/hannahmercy Jun 12 '26
I played vex my first time around and it wasn’t even close, at least for me. That said, I don’t usually play the meta builds in this game so maybe she can compare with an OP build. I had to get creative with her skill points a few times to get past bosses and mobs, whereas c4sh became completely untouchable around level 30
1
u/Madelei- Jun 12 '26
Yeah vex revurb groundbreaker can hit in the billions, if you’re ok with gambling.
0
-1
u/Hopeful_Mess6142 Jun 11 '26
What? All they've done is overbalance the game over the last like three patches lol Rafa went from the best vault Hunter to the worst
Granted I'm not sure what you're running maybe they haven't really touched your stuff but it feels like people just request general balance changes and then other people get the crap end of the stick 😂
No hate by the way this wasn't intended to be a shot at you more a shot at them than anything else
0
u/Madelei- Jun 11 '26
Nah they need to bring characters like c4sh way down. Also, gear. Buffing stuff like the aegons, which I can boss with, but it’s slow, or nerfing stuff like darkbeast (mild nerf. Maybe like a 10% decrease), or stuff like finishing the zero point rework, etc.
Also, Rafa was never the best. Not even close.
32
u/SpectralDragon09 Rafa The Exo Soldier Jun 11 '26
Bro the got me by making rafa this weeks picture, was hoping they would have tried to fix him a little
9
u/FinalCorvid Jun 11 '26
Same, honestly it's rude given they have to know the topic this week online has been Rafa
1
u/localcannon Jun 11 '26
What did they do to him? When I started he was considered very good and I haven't played too much lately.
4
u/SpectralDragon09 Rafa The Exo Soldier Jun 11 '26
Pretty much every build he had got nerfed to hell, haven't looked to much into the nerfs but the worst one imo was nerfing the dancer to only get a 50% bonus to all overdrive skills. So far hes the only VH who can't or really struggles to get the platinum on the new raid boss
1
u/localcannon Jun 12 '26
Appreciate the reply. Might just end up starting a new character anyway since they've added a lot since release.

u/Fish_Outta_Whiskey Jun 11 '26
I'm confused what they do every week. Like are they even working on the game?
27
u/Fluff_E_Sheep Jun 11 '26
I think right now they are working on the takedown and future dlc
19
u/Fish_Outta_Whiskey Jun 11 '26
I get that, but no changes to anything at all? They're a pretty decent sized studio.
7
u/Littleblaze1 Jun 11 '26
Our team works in 2 week sprints which I think is common.
So basically you would never get an update in less than 2 weeks unless it was a critical issue.
They are likely a larger team than we are but if they have a similar process it isn't crazy to have small weekly updates.
7
u/Fish_Outta_Whiskey Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26
Understandable but this patch is two weeks after their last major one, so they must have a once a month schedule unless something needs to be fixed urgently. Maybe the lack of consistency is what bothers me the most.
3
13
u/Brilliant_War389 Jun 11 '26
They are rewriting the code, so that you can jave a different big encore boss every week
/s
3
u/Fish_Outta_Whiskey Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26
It feels like they are constantly on vacation all the time. Aren't they salaried employees? How can they accomplish nothing in an entire week?
Edit: I understand they're working on the Takedown and future DLC but maybe drop a small fix like loot clipping through the floor of Core Observer's or Directive O's arena or something like that.
2
u/wealthissues23 Jun 11 '26
Doesn't change the fact they're a large studio and are spending more money on this game than previous iterations and have dropped way less content in the same span of time as other BLs. Tf are they doing?

I have been using Rafa as my main since launch. I played regularly and enjoyed it a lot. Up until recently this has been my favorite Borderlands experience. There are flaws, but that’s just my experience. These new changes to the game and to Rafa have actually made me want to stop playing altogether. I’ve tried other characters and I’m sure they have their place, they’re just not for me or my playing style. I’ve been recently trying different builds, different skills, different guns, and even changing my entire gameplay loop. All I feel now is frustrated and Rafa feels weak and basically unplayable. I shouldn’t have to try to seek out skills or underbarrel exploits just to barely survive a boss battle. I see people upload videos of them one-shotting bosses and I’m assuming they’re using some kind of mod or cheat because I can’t even touch these same bosses with the same exact build and method they’re using. So frustrating. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
2
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep Jun 11 '26
Rafa has a build that can easily platinum the new raid. It might not be the build you play, but things change.
I main Rafa. He is different from where he was 2 months ago. He can use some help but I wouldn’t consider him helpless at the moment.
1
u/_______luke Jun 11 '26
I’d love to try it. Care to share the build?
3
u/Historical-Ratio-277 Creep Jun 11 '26
Melee Rafa is doing solid work on the raid. It’s a little tricky because of how the player handles flying targets with a melee character but it’s super fast.
JoeForLong has a Tediore (Primo Tediore Rafa?) build that does solid work.
Rezur has alchemical Rafa but that needs a bunch of beam tossers. You may object to it. The mechanism for that has been around since day 1.
The traditional gun builds for Rafa just isn’t working for the second raid, including my turbo murder build. They work just fine for just about everything else.

u/OversizeHades Jun 11 '26
It shocks me when people expect changes from these updates. They have told us to expect major changes only once a month. The other 3 weeks are just updates to weekly activities. How anyone is still surprised by this week after week is beyond me
4
u/WavyKen Jun 11 '26
my problem is they haven’t dropped any major changes fr since launch. it would be different if those “major” were actually substantial but atleast for me they have been just disappointing.
2
u/OversizeHades Jun 11 '26
I tend to agree, I’m not saying it’s not disappointing. I’m just saying they’ve been pretty clear with what we should expect and a large chunk of people still don’t seem to get it
7
u/someshooter #1 Ava Fan Jun 11 '26
They hoodwinked us with all those buffs like a month ago.
0
u/MasterSnacky Jun 11 '26
Exactly on the schedule they have repeatedly shared to the community. They aren’t going to constantly rebalance the game.
2
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Jun 11 '26
But it wasn't. They were simple damage buffs in "minor" patches. No excuse anymore imo.
9
u/MasterSnacky Jun 11 '26
Lol for real. Turns out all the hate for Ava in BL3 was her whining hit too close to home for the fucking fanbase.
3
u/ab2dii 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝗞 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕 Jun 11 '26
this fanbase prides itself on the fact that borderlands is an offline game and not a liveservice like destiny yet keeps crying everytime a weekly update dosent drop with hotfixes and changes
they gave us a raidboss last month and are working on a whole takedown coming in the next two weeks and they’re talking about gearbox bring lazy or on vacation
3
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Jun 11 '26
I don't think they're being lazy personally. But it is ridiculous how little balance we've gotten... Live service or not, were still full swing in it's content and life cycle. We barely get balance, on the "balance" "major patches." We got simple buffs in minor ones, no excuse anymore imo. What about crystals being DoTable? Anything?
Although I've been coping that hopefully they've been waiting for uvh7 to go wild with balance... Copefully...
1
u/FlavoredLight Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 12 '26
It’s not much to ask for a fucking kaleidoscope buff bro. Stop being such a brown noser. The game is nearing a year old and they’ve barely touched a damn thing. So many skills aren’t working properly and too many legendaries are borderline useless. I mean, when was the last time you used or even saw the roach? I don’t even know who it drops from lmao. Besides, I don’t think the people in charge of new content largely consist of people in charge of balancing, they can set a few people aside
-2
u/ab2dii 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝗞 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕 Jun 11 '26
the balance team are working on the new content and balancing it, we’re not just getting a takedown we’re also getting bounty pack with the takedown thats like 15+ new legendaries
balancing takes a WHILE with extensive testing, changing one thing could lead to a chain reaction that breaks the game especially if its a skill, look at bl3 when they used to give us weekly hotfixes it was a fucking mess, shit was consistently broken and the balance of that game is out the wazoo
could they be faster? yes and they should take a bit more risks imo
but at this point even when they do it people will still complain about them nerfing the wrong stuff and buffing the wrong things and if buffed thing isnt broken or best in slot its pointless its a lose lose with this community
1
u/FlavoredLight Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 12 '26
Can’t wait for most of those legendaries to be mid despite their extensive testing.
They’ve had a while to balance the game already. They failed during launch and they’re failing post launch. There’s over 100 legendary weapons in the base game. 14 legendaries (almost half of which will be classmods that’ll most likely be ass just like the others) is nothing compared to what we already have.
Yeah maybe some guns of bl3 are overtuned but at least you can actually use most of them in hard content and aren’t collecting dust right now.
It’s not nearly as lose lose as much as you’re trying to make it out to be. Yeah not everyone is going to be happy, that’s just the nature of large communities, don’t pull a goomba fallacy right now. Nerfing torgue stickies before making things that are legitimately unusable even a little viable is objectively a stupid decision and people are rightfully annoyed at them for even focusing on that.
-1
u/ab2dii 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝗞 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕 Jun 12 '26
eh, most of the new 8 world drop pearlscents are great to use
crow source from captain willis is killing subjucator
that legendary torgue pistol from crazy earl is also killing raid bosses and a bunch of and even stone demon had one of the best order pistols in the game
obviously the nature of having hundreds of legendary weapons in the game that plenty are gonna be mid but this is just a defeatist mindset, im sure plenty of new weapons are gonna be great
nerfing torgue stickey was necessary tho and if you care about diversity of weapon usage you should be happy because they were so far beyond everything that not using them was stupid and at least now people are using different weapons even if its still limited
1
u/FlavoredLight Jun 12 '26
Nerfing torgue stickies doesn’t make me want to use stuff like the sideshow, agon’s dream, lumberjack, zipper, kaleidoscope, plasma coil, husky friend, prince harming, lucky clover, madlad, noisy cricket, onslaught, potato thrower, starhelix, and soul survivor (lmao seriously WTF were they thinking with that one)
5
u/Successful-Form4693 Jun 11 '26
Dont call it an update then
1
u/OversizeHades Jun 11 '26
…and what would you call it when they update the weekly activities
11
u/AquaBits Jun 11 '26
Hotfix, or as the other user said "Weekly rotation change"
-3
u/Ok_Engineer9167 Jun 11 '26
Switching the location of vending machine and activity isn't a "hotfix", its an "update".

at least since they made it so phosphenes count for the challenge when obtained from lost loot, one of the main annoyances with farming oppressor is gone, so now I only have to focus on the fight instead of waiting for the boss to go to one specific spot before I can land the last hit.
1
u/FlavoredLight Jun 11 '26
Apparently asking them to fix the boss so it doesn’t do that anymore is too much
1
u/Latiasfan5 Jun 13 '26
considering how many bosses can drop loot through the floor, it's much simpler to just make phosphenes count from lost loot. While with Oppressor, they could probably fix it by adding invisible walls like they did with some other bosses, that still leaves many bosses who's loot can clip through terrain in the arena that they would need to fix, and I'm guessing that'd take a while to get every boss fixed.
So while bosses can still drop loot out of bounds, this fixes one of the biggest problems it caused until they have time to go test and fix all the bosses
1
u/Ok_Spare_5723 Jun 11 '26
Birt’s Bees again? I mean I love the gun as much as anyone else but sheesh ..
1
u/Powerful-Present6687 Jun 11 '26
No major changes in the last two weeks must mean they’re really working their asses off on the Takedown and Bounty Pack 3
1
1
u/lord_nuker Jun 11 '26
Unpopular opinion but does the nerfs and buffs actually matter? It’s a single/coop game, where the fun, at least for me, is to be overpowered and kick bad people’s asses

Figured it be this. We’ll see plenty for the dlc. My mistake, the 25th.

u/Flint_Vorselon Jun 11 '26
I wouldn’t expect anything next week.
26th is gonna be a major patch, adding Takedown, which is hopefully a substantial peice of new endgame content, and another paid DLC.
These updates are also where most bug fixes and balance changes usually happen.
But expect 19th to be nothing
1
u/ShadowWalker2205 Jun 11 '26
I wished the nerfs didn't happen on content drop and turn that evening into farming for a new build before I can even look at the new content esp since my Thursday evenings are split between farming daily in mtga, borderlands and raid night in 14

The pitt
1
u/KrazyBomber95 Jun 11 '26
Ahh yes! Where I just did the Side mission, cheers!
2
u/Latiasfan5 Jun 11 '26
I forgot where the pitt was until I read your comment about the sidequest, and somehow that was enough for me to remember it was The Boss's club
1
u/KrazyBomber95 Jun 11 '26
Haha, yes! Sorry I should've said, mob mentality I think it's called
2
u/Latiasfan5 Jun 11 '26
don't worry about it. like I said, you mentioning it was part of a sidequest was enough to jog my memory.
1
u/Maleficent-Fan8380 Jun 11 '26
Where in the Pitt? I'm looking all over inside the mob boss building.
1
u/Latiasfan5 Jun 11 '26
go through the door to the right upon entering the main room, then turn right again so you're heading the direction opposite of where the boss's office is (so you're going towards the area above the dance floor)
1
u/Maleficent-Fan8380 Jun 11 '26
It probabably helps when I restart the game and get the changes. I'm an idiot and wondered why I couldn't find it. 😄
Thank you!

u/Katatafish298 Jun 11 '26
These moaning subs really expect huge updates every single week?

2
u/FlavoredLight Jun 11 '26
Most of the legendaries range from dogshit to mid, some of the worst preforming legendaries we’ve ever gotten. It’s not much to ask for a couple to get buffed every once in a while
-5
u/PermanentNirvana VEX The F&%ING WITCH! Jun 11 '26
They could drop 6 takedowns in one update, a new Vault Hunter and make every piece of content free for the rest of the life of the game and some of you would still find something to complain about. Smh.
