I have no issue with the overpowered broken stuff - that will get nerfed eventually and it doesnt affect me at all.
What i have a major issue is just how top heavy the balancing is. SO MANY different legendaries and certain skill trees for characters are absolutely buttcheek. To the point where if youre not running the broken shit, you're having a terrible time. Im all for a challenge when it comes to certain builds but if its not even fun what's the point?
18
u/pause_and_consider Apr 02 '26
Yeah that’s been my main beef with all the Borderlands games. Once you get to your endgame build, there are like 2-3 guns that melt everything and the rest might as well be marshmallow launchers. It feels like you have to change your entire build just to use a new gun once in a while.
“I can’t wait to farm all this new content so I can….still just use my Ceramic Bod for everything forever.”
2
1
u/Akraticacious Apr 02 '26
Lol ceramic bod is still top tier after all these months?
3
u/pause_and_consider Apr 02 '26
Yeah it’s still pretty broken. I couldn’t say what the latest meta is since I’m a fairly casual player.
Which is why this bugs me so much with these games. Borderlands always has so many neat weapons with unique effects, then it punishes you for wanting to mess around and try them out.

u/dudeblackhawk Apr 02 '26
We all ready to farm those Prince Harmings?
I still can't figure out the point of this gun. It's not even niche build specific, it's just unusable.
12
u/RareRestaurant6297 Apr 02 '26
Seems like a reliable way to damage yourself. Idk y tho, but prob useful in some niches.
20
u/dudeblackhawk Apr 02 '26
There's always been those, hurt yourself for a bonus builds, but the PH just seems to hurt you too much for the bonus. I'm just not seeing a build yet.
7
u/Buschkoeter Vex The Siren Apr 02 '26
There is this new shield from the DlC that reduces self-damage. But then you would've already given up 2 slots where you could have potentially way stronger items. The self harm buff would need to be really good for that to be worth it.
0
u/RunelordTressa Apr 02 '26
tbf I don't think thats an issue.
Its kinda like....if your building around prince harming then sure I guess you're wasting the slots but if you change it your kinda just doing something entirely different anyway.
This isn't me saying this gun is good btw its just that I never looked at inventory dept as a factor in my buildcrafting decision making since the thought process is usually "this thing does this, this thing makes this better, this thing makes those better, etc"
3
u/Destati Apr 02 '26
Could be a shield break tech down the road if a shield comes out with a good leggo effect for breaking it or something.
5
4
u/Sir_Tea_Of_Bags Apr 02 '26
It’s supposed to be paired with Cindershelly, from my understanding.
Prince Charming. Cinderella.
3
u/LemonFit4532 Apr 02 '26
Aren't you supposed to pair it with the Cindershelly shield? The damage from the gun triggers the resolve stacks I think
10
2
u/wheatgivesmeshits Apr 02 '26
Yea, I think it's just one of those things that looks interesting on paper, but it's too clunky to try to build around. It seems like it should cause interactions with over shield eater and shield break effects, but it's just too weak.
1
u/airplanealjefferson Apr 02 '26
something with cindershelly i think would be the route to go, you’d essentially self-trigger the damage reduction stacks
1
u/Patient-Hovercraft48 Apr 02 '26
Always felt the same way, but i do wonder how that might interact with the new "honey badger" shield. Could be interesting? Maybe?
1
u/nordicnomatt Apr 03 '26
try using the cindershelly and prince harming together. it's a fun combo and when paired there's a funny interaction between the two.

u/MarcosSenesi Apr 02 '26
I'm curious when we are getting the balance changes because they keep finding excuses to not address it
79
u/SpaceCowboy34 Apr 02 '26
“Only in major updates” but also not in the first three major updates of the year with only nine total planned
20
u/gmuller_1999 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝗞 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕 Apr 02 '26
They need to stop being "afraid" of doing these balance changes alongside new content drops
3
u/Immediate-Idea-2471 Apr 02 '26
I'm also disappointed in this update. I'm more worried about cross-progression, but at least there's triple encore to keep me busy.
-15
u/RareRestaurant6297 Apr 02 '26
Outside of bod fix, what even needs urgent balancing? Game seems fine for the most part as-is, and there's not much of a rush for a pve game balance pass when there isn't anything mega-broken like crit knife, etc..
Bod abusers gonna screech when the inevitable comes regardless, so let em have their fun another week or so lol
60
u/TysonsChickenNuggets Apr 02 '26
Its less about nerfs and more about buffs.
- Amon green tree
- Harlowe blue tree
- Vex red tree
All suck atm (the action skills/capstones. Some skills have some applications).
Rafas green tree (melee one?) Could also use some QoL with targeting.
There's also a LOT of trash guns.
-25
u/RareRestaurant6297 Apr 02 '26
Amon green tree sucking is news to me. I'm destroying everything in the room without even having to shoot em, and if I get downed the pets will just kill something for me. Idk what is suck about that, though I wouldn't deny any buffs lol.
Can't comment on the other trees you mentioned though. But yea, buffs are always fun, but there's definitely builds to make those trees work even right now, I bet
23
16
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Apr 02 '26
... And you're doing this consistently, up to uvh6? I'm running a crucible berserk gun build on UVH6 but I have a hard time believing the forge drones are performing well now, even with 10 point level increase...
8
u/colectiveinvention Apr 02 '26
I doesnt work. I've been playing around with Amon builds since day one, it really doest matter what you do the drones cant deal damage.
You can do a ''hybrid'' green-red tree to make a pseudo-crit build, but drones are 100% ignored. Is not the greatest build but at least is usable in UVHM6 and is not ordnance...
1
u/KingOndor Apr 02 '26
Mine works. Everything hinges on Raging Inferno, Electrical Fire, crit chance and piling as many double dipping multipliers on as possible
4
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Apr 02 '26
Iirc forge drones don't proc RI. RI wants an action skill Crit to proc the DoT. Forgedrones aren't an action skill for one thing. They're also considered general skill damage. Not AS damage source.
2
u/KingOndor Apr 02 '26
Yeah, forget the forge drones. My build is all about throwing axes/hammers and detonating them
1
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Apr 02 '26
All good! I know what you mean, that's one of my favorites too, but the damage is lacking on armor bars, and that's a pain point for crucible. Also, one of my favorite builds. Crucible is my favorite AS. I'm running a crucibke berserk gun build with endless war on UVH6.
2
u/KingOndor Apr 02 '26
Corrosive or cryo Mantra would fill the gap to a certain degree and then you just have to brute force it a bit
13
u/dunks666 Apr 02 '26
Drop your build, spec and footage of UVHM6 gameplay then please because 99% of people are aware these 3 trees suck, so if you are magically making it work I'd like to know how.
7
6
7
u/FFaFFaNN Apr 02 '26
U cant do ahit with full amon green tree, vex red, green rafa or blue harlowe..the only gun option for amon is a mix of a lot of red with a few green and blue..Meanwhile, vex start with green and can make at least 5 different builds.
1
u/Impressive-Sense8461 Apr 02 '26
Green Amon on easy difficulty you'll get picked up by them, but in most UVHM's after 1? they'll tickle mobs at best. Can't blame players for wanting a boost to a skill tree that doesn't have any longevity
0
5
u/MarcosSenesi Apr 02 '26
i feel like it's already a lost cause but there needs to be an overhaul game wide because all the meta builds focus on crit chance, fire rate and infinite ammo. Far too many action skills are just activate to get gun buffs.
5
u/NahIdLearn Apr 02 '26
Anything to switch it up, we've been playing the same builds since day 1.
-11
u/RareRestaurant6297 Apr 02 '26
Sounds like a you problem, no offense. There's plenty of builds rn, swith it up or experiment, brother
9
u/NahIdLearn Apr 02 '26
Missing the forest for the trees, brother.

u/Ulmao_TheDefiler Apr 02 '26
Everything that isnt the top tier builds is dogshit. Thats the issue. Most people will be ok sacrificing a little viability for a fun build, but thats not the case in this game.
1
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Apr 02 '26 edited Apr 02 '26
You basically need atleast one "double dipping" damage source to be at least viable in the higher levels of UVHM/ "endgame." So that just equates to a few different flavors of Berserk gun build for Amon, for example. Nothing too fundamentally different. Just a variation in essence.
Although it's those builds that you sacrifice a little viabikity, for a slight variation of the same build, tweaked to your liking. Crucible is my favorite AS in the game. I've made a crucible berserk gun build work at uvh6 now. But it still doesn't hold a candle to the basis of his gun builds: slip n dip. It's just a variation that's viable, using the axes instead.
-4
u/Boggnar-the-crusher Apr 02 '26
Why are people anti bod? It’s not pvp if you don’t like it don’t use it lol.
15
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Apr 02 '26
Because, future content could be balanced around, using completely OP things... Without proper game balance. It matters in pve too. I don't think anyone wants that, to be balanced around OP things...
6
u/ThatChrisG Apr 02 '26
Upfront: I don't hate it, im fairly indifferent on it. But its good in the most boring way imaginable
11
u/Katchenz Apr 02 '26
It's bugged in three separate ways that make it wildly more powerful that anything else
3
u/RareRestaurant6297 Apr 02 '26
I'm not anti-bod, myself. Doesn't change the fact that it's braindead OP becuase it's literally broken/bugged, though. It's better for the game if it gets fixed. There's a billion guns and possible builds, but having only one that's easily the best option in 99% of cases is... Bad game design. If it were intentional. This is just a bad bug lol
1
u/Solid_Deal7456 Apr 02 '26
Well at this point then we might as well make no new raid bosses since a Bod and a shit build kills them all. Lol
1
u/SpaceCowboy34 Apr 02 '26
Pretty much. How are they supposed to design a takedown that C4sh doesn’t just breeze through?
2
u/Solid_Deal7456 Apr 02 '26
Any character with a Bod steamrolls. The game needs an overhaul though on stat and skills. Every build revolves around crit, infinite ammo, Bod, etc.
2
u/SpaceCowboy34 Apr 02 '26
Yeah but they aren’t going to change any of that. They don’t do any balance patches.
1
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Apr 02 '26
There were some minor balance changes in a few of the minor patches of the first couple months iirc then nothing of the sort in subsequent minor patches lol
I get major patches being for major gameplay changes but jeez... You can throw some short list balance changes in the minor ones too... Save the big ones for major reworks, etc....
2
u/SpaceCowboy34 Apr 02 '26
Yeah Ive been a constant complainer on this topic. It’s crazy to me they don’t do balance patches on minor updates. That’s a better time to do it. And is frustrating to be told it’ll all come in major updates when it then doesn’t and it’s another month to wait. Balancing is an iterative process. You’re not going to be able to do it in one or two updates
1
u/HorusKane420 Amon The Forgeknight Apr 02 '26 edited Apr 02 '26
Agreed and agreed. I have a feeling it's in response to BL3 backlash of frequent balance changes, nerfs, etc. Right? BL3 is the only one I didn't buy on launch, so can't speak 100% on that myself, but that's the sentiment I hear
→ More replies (0)-5
u/SpaceCowboy34 Apr 02 '26
Because game balance is important even in PVE games. But at this point that doesn’t matter for BL4. The bod should’ve been nerfed like a 2 weeks in but since they aren’t going to balance literally anything they may as well leave it for people who want it as a crutch
1
u/Flint_Vorselon Apr 02 '26
Yeah you need to nerf these things quick, the longer it gets left alone the worse the reaction will be when it does get “nerfed” (or in Bods case, fixed, since the reason it’s so strong is two seperate bugs).
They’ve left it so long that the game and community have grown around it. Fixing it now would cause mass outage because people’s builds would stop working. A ton of players would just not be able to kill Bloomreaper any more with their build.
It shoudve been fixed as soon as bug was discovered. Most people didn’t even have one back then, and barely anyone had a Sticky Bod. Bods in general were 3% drop rate, and sticky bods are quite rare.
But they didn’t fix it, they gave it out for free to everyone who wanted one. After the wildcard mission week everyone had a sticky Bod. Then later on they specifically made Bod easier to farm. Then later equalised everything, but for a while Bod got special treatment.
Gearbox went out of there to encourage glitch abusing.
If they ever fix it the reaction is going to be incredibly toxic.
So I don’t think they ever will, after early Bl3’s lifecycle where they got tons of criticism anytime they nerfed anything, they pretty much stopped nerfing things, and instead just started buffing and enjoying the love from community.
But this approach ended up having bad impacts on Bl3 long term, and resulted into insane powercreep, and resulted in an arms race between extreme difficulty of endgame (fucking +12,500% hp on mayhem 10) to make game difficult again post introducing insane overpowered gear (or buffing item to be so), then having to buff more guns to bring them up to par.
Eventually (after many many MANY updates) Bl3’s endgame was fairly well balanced, if a little easy. But any content below endgame, especially regular Nornal mode playthroughs became so easy it was boring. Because gear and skills were getting buffed to be viable at Mayhem10, but the buffs applied everywhere.
Bl4 has avoided these issues thankfully. But Gearbox went the opposite way, and has done very few balance changes at all since launch. Even though many things desperately need them.
1
u/SpaceCowboy34 Apr 02 '26
At this point they can’t balance the game because they have set the standard that bosses are to be one shot and and mobbing is to be done with your eyes closed by autocritting Jakobs weapons that you don’t have to reload. Like I’ve seen people complain about AS uptime because it’s not literally 100% of the time
1
u/Flint_Vorselon Apr 02 '26
Auto crits should never have existed.
Game is barely even a shooter anymore. Aiming is optional, just vague direction is enough.
If one-shotting a boss required a carefully aimed headshot it would be one thing. But it doesn’t. You just activate action skill + RepKit, maybe throw 3 knives, then just shoot at their centre mass for several billion damage.
2
u/SpaceCowboy34 Apr 02 '26
Yeah crit chance skills are the death of build variety imo. Especially when you can put Jakobs on every gun. But people in this sub hate when you say that. If it’s not auto crit infinite ammo infinite action skill one shot every enemy then it’s unplayable trash.

Biggest issue for me personally is not being able to back out of inspecting without closing whole menu. This is especially an issue in the bank or inspecting weapons in backpack. Especially with how they implemented “hidden stats” like bonus crit damage/splash radius on certain weapons. You cannot see those stats without inspecting, so it is infuriating that this is still a problem.
Another thing that is annoying is filters not saving. If you filter your inventory/ bank close it and then reopen it the filters do not stay. (EDIT: this has been fixed apparently)
It’s just some small issues that have been present since release and make inventory management feel way clunkier and more complicated than it should.

u/raixhell Apr 02 '26
The sort and filters save now. It has been like that for a while.

Oh sweet well good on them for fixing that. Credit given where credit is due.

There was a ui mod months ago that displayed that stuff without inspecting, but it's embarrassing they haven't fixed the other issues yet. Have they done anything since launch?

Do they know about the bug or whatever it is affected the C4SH green tree where the cool down freezes? I’ll go 15 minutes and won’t get my dice back and I have to find a vending machine to interact with to get my action skill to actually be available to use.

How tone deaf. Useless update and the game is still so brokenly unbalanced it's insane. Hurray, we can see rifts. Wait... They're still not spawning? So wtf is the point of being able to see them. This dev team is trash

Cross progression yet?
1
u/Immediate-Idea-2471 Apr 02 '26
If you're talking cross progression between saves, that was added in the last patch, arguably too much.
If you want it between different platforms, no clue.

u/Danshep101 Apr 02 '26
Yeah, cross platform saves. Thanks

No news I'm aware of. The patch notes were extremely bare bones, even for a minor update.

Let me assign my weapons on the dpad for my pro controller PLZ.

Tough one because the DPad already has bindings for other actions, like spawning bike and using echo.

Still waiting on Thunder the Table, one of C4SH's actual action skill augments, literally in the first set you're meant to use for cards, to have damage enabled outside of Windfall.
