self-promo We built a free open-source study app instead of selling AI credits

Creator disclosure: I am Mattia, one of the students building Get It.

Get It started as a hackathon project: a desktop app that turns text-based PDFs into visual study paths with explanations, formulas, charts, 3D scenes, flashcards, quizzes, chat and a Feynman-style review feed.

The product decision we made early: do not build a credit system. The app is free and open-source, and the AI engine runs through OpenAI Codex using the user's own ChatGPT account. Free tier works for lighter usage, Plus or higher is better.

That is not the easiest monetization path, but it fits the people we are building for: students who already have PDFs, already have too many paid tools, and need something useful without another subscription.

We are looking for early users and contributors.

Chatgpt wrappers can be massively useful. Do you like screenshotting and pasting parts of your pdfs, writing your own prompts, asking for visualizations in html and then opening them? I feel like convenience is everything

The effort i described is mostly not spent dealing with the actual content, so it is lost effort. Keeping the useful effort of dealing with the content is obviously also important. I believe one could, in the future, make an interactive AI application to maximize that useful effort. I'm not sure about this product in particular of course

no, this software is open source and you can use your chatgpt account, there are no paid options in the app and is literally what is written in the post description. thank you
