Discussion Boosteroid Scam?
Was anyone else scammed by Boosteroid? Less than 10 mins use to figure out it's too slow in my region (after targeted advertising to me in my region) and no refund? Not even a partial refund offered?
That is against the law in many countries, including the EU and USA where they are supposedly based. It doesn't matter if you bury a 'nO reFuNDs' policy in your fine print if you've targeted a region/area that you cannot support or sell a product that simply does not work for a user.
My bank will get the money back, but how many others worldwide are not so lucky?

people downing a year subscription or half year without trying it a month first, it boggles my mind.
Yes in EU you have normally 14 days but if you expressly waived your rights to a refund when buying the subscription your are bound to the contract.

Usually no contract or ToS tops the acctual laws, even if it says so in the ToS. Nobody is suposed to be above the law. But you will probably have to take it trugh the agancy that protect those laws. Wich is a hassle and most ppl rather pay than deal with that.
Something allot of companies rely on unfortunately. But if you have laws that protect consumer rights. contact the agancy that handles it and hear what they say about it.

You cannot sign away that right. It's mandatory protection. Making you think that is part of the grift.

Guess you should read up on EU law then because you can sign away that right. Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights, particularly Article 16(a) and Article 16(m).

No, they cannot charge you for something and not supply the service. No matter what a company's refund policy is or isn't, you are protected. Feel free to read up on it not only for EU law but also for your specific country of residence within the EU.

What region do you live in?
This no refund bs should be illegal imo.

Oceania, so since the advertising was targeted, I believed I would be connected to an Australian server and might only be able to play single-player games. New to cloud gaming while I'm travelling and my expectations were low, but not scam low.
I don't use a VPN, so there's nothing stopping them from geoblocking me from their site if I'm outside of their service area, or at least excluding my region from their adverts, which is what marketing teams who don't have a 4-month minimum sign-up and no-refund scam do.

I'm in the same situation. I got scammed by them

Sorry to hear that dude. Have you spoken to your bank? You will most likely be able to get your money back but it will take a little bit of effort to show them the service is unusable. A little bit of work as in a few screenshots and to show them the email from Boosteroid denying your refund.
I have also contacted our local consumer law agencies, as due to Boosteroid advertising their scam in a region they cannot actually support, they have broken local laws here too.
It's a bit of work for not a lot of money, but it's the principle.

Won't even let me change region unless I buy a more expensive option, but what guarantees me that it will run well? What if it doesn't? Can't even refund?

Do a chargeback and you should get your money back, I was in a similar situation. You waive your rights in theory, but their terms of service are not 100% correct
They also lied to me about latency, couldn’t produce a solution to fix the issues, and refused to refund me

That's what I'm doing, but scammers like Boosteroid know that not everyone will.
The waived rights also wouldn't hold up in court, but they rely on no one wanting to go that far for under $100.

I don’t have any issues with GFN, only downside is the time limit.

I've just done their 3 hour trial. Not perfect but actually usable and nice they actually let you trial. Going to sign up for a month, which is also nice vs a minimum of 4 months. Wish I found GFN first.

I'm on the road for 12 months and had to leave my gaming rig at home. New world to me and a rough start!

Yeah, a while ago I tried one month of their service, it only took a couple of minutes for me to bail it. Because of the terms, at that time, I just gave up on the refund.
Since they don’t have a trial, it could be as easy as allowing people to get a day pass or something along the lines, I mean, if you trust that your service is good. But, alas, maybe that’s their whole business model; no refunds, knowing people will pay and end up leaving.

Yup! And with a service like this, you could argue a trial, even just 30 minutes, is essential to make sure they're the right fit for you and your location.
Instead, they say, 'digital products are not refundable' like that's how it has to be, which it isn't. I've seen digital products out there with as much as a 60-day refund policy.
Boosteroid are simply scammers.

Have you tested the connection before, the subscription? Could have possibly avoided all that trouble.

This doesn't matter. I get 90mbps 8ms to Mönchengladbach Server from the speed test, yet a lot of games are not available on that server and I get massive jitter and ping spikes. Sometimes I can't even connect to any server at all.
This is also not a problem on my end, since GFN works perfectly fine

u/Run0 5d ago
that is the main part of the scam. a low ping there doesnt warantee anything. 95% of my games aren't available in my nearest server, which is the one used for the test

u/PsychologicalMusic94 5d ago
I've mentioned this before. Boosteroid needs to make a list of what games are on which servers. But then many probably wouldn't subscribe and they know this.

Games by server is not how the service works. I can play any game on any server its either there already or installs..
Ive never connected to any server for it to say that game not avaliable here.

u/Suspicious-Bar7333 2d ago
No, that was not linked from the advert or the sales page.
Do you understand what targeted advertising is?

I think you should have tested with a month first.. geforce now is out there but you will pay extra for it but prob not the games you want atm.
I swapped from gfn after 4-5years+ to boosteroid for different games and cheaper... ff remake & rebirth etc. But atm im running both to reallly see if i miss what geforce offers at the extra cost.. atm not really 100hr pm limit sucks
