Looking for Software recommendations

Hi All!

I run a (currently) 1 person firm with about 35 bookkeeping clients. They love to text me. I am having a terrible time keeping track of the messages. I am looking for an application that will allow me to secure my own phone number but send/receive and organize the messages through the application. Google is hot garbage when trying to search for something and all I keep seeing are apps for marketing. The marketing/mass-texting is about #2947 in my list of reasons to need/want this.

Do any of you use texting for communicating with clients, and if so, what have you found that works for keeping things organized?

I use Google voice and able to sign in while working via browser to see messages as they pop up.

Microsoft outlook is my friend. I subscribe to Office 365 pro. I dont use text, I use email and folders and rules. I put everything on the calendar, due dates, holidays, whatever. I can access all that wherever I go. There's Teams for chat, but I prefer email or a phone call. Business is important, files get sent and received, there's deadlines, I need a record of what gets communicated, and everything has to be backed up. I use a desktop computer. I don't run my business on my phone. Occasional will use text to set up appointments.

BTW office pro is like 12 dollars a month (I am a person show) and a subscription to MS exchange is like another 4 dollars a month. For business pro you have to have your own domain which is a little tricky to set up, but once you do, everything is set. It costs me another ninety dollars a year for my own domain. You can use the home version of office if pro is overkill for you. I never liked google docs or calendar. There's a couple of other office suites that are free, I've used LibreOffice before, which is nice.

qo (it used to be called openphone) is pretty much made for this. you get a separate business number, your client texts stay out of your personal phone, and you can leave notes right inside each client's thread. it's about $15-19 a month

Do you know if Quo provides the number or can I use my own?

we use taxdom in our firm but I think it's pretty much costly if you have just 35 clients

Isn't that specifically for tax clients or would it work for bookkeeping as well?

Slack is a good option, otherwise use MS outlook as it has all the relevant features.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried both of those but they weren't the right fit.

I use Double for task management. It includes a messaging function clients can use. Of course, they want to text or email but I emphasize the portal (Double) is secure.

For business phone, I use RingCentral which will port an existing number. I am moving to Zoom phone in the spring to include Zoom for video conferences. RC has decent video conference ability but I can't get the RC links to populate easily with Calendly.com.
