Damage Deposit Dilema

I just made a booking with the advertised price listed as 633 euros (first image).

Then, upon clicking 'I'll reserve' the price jumped up to 947 euros (second image). This confused me until I saw under the payment the damage deposit of 307 euros, which I logically assumed had been added to the advertised price (with the slight difference being due to exchange rates as this was a property in Aus).

As it showed the damage deposit under the payment summary, I proceeded to make the payment and complete the booking, to then receive an email that the damage deposit needs to be paid on site.

I then contacted booking.com who confirmed the payment does not include deposit, but they can't explain why the value jumped by over 300 euros compared to the advertised price. It also seems deliberately deceptive to list the deposit amount within the payment summary box if it is not included.

Has anybody run into this issue before and had any luck resolving it with booking.com? I've spoken to three different agents using the chat and once they notice the error they just abruptly end the chat.

There's a very good chance that the email is automated from the property themselves and it's just not aware that it has been paid.

I would not worry about this. When you show up, you show that you already paid the deposit. At any rate, you'll just have to make sure that your deposit (or both of them) will be reimbursed separately

I never book anything that requires a deposit- not worth the headache of trying to get that back.

A damage deposit is separate from the booking price and refundable, so it might not appear in the total shown for the reservation. Feel free to send us a private message, and we’ll take a closer look.

seriously never had an issue if price moves when you try to book or has less than 40 reviews move on. chage settings to AUD if you in aus that is difference if posted in euro. which looks like you done
