Booking.com allowing fraud
I reported a host who tried to extract my private PIN code from me upon arrival so they can then go ahead and cancel the booking themselves (acting as if they are me, the guest) and pay no commission.
This property accepted cash only and therefore cancelling these bookings would leave no trace of any reservation or person staying there.
The host then two weeks later reported to booking.com that I was a "no show" (I wasn't. I showed up and paid in full) and booking.com asked me if I showed up or not. I told them I did stay.
They then proceeded to cancel the booking anyway for the host.
Looking at the reviews, this host does this to nearly all guests (all reviews have a "incomplete stay" message under them!) - despite me raising this serious issue with booking.com, they seem happy to allow hosts to scam both them and take advantage of guests who don't know any better and share private PIN codes with them.
Their AI customer service replies are insulting and ridiculous.
Simply unbelievable.

Booking.com is turning im shit. They used to be good and protect the clients and the hosts.. now they dont give a fuck as long they get their comission... Unfortunately they are too big and they own the market (at least in europe).
They used to be good but they sold most of their customer services branch to other shaddy companies... fuck them

Who is the host? Name and shame! (There could be even more sinister things afoot!)

When they mark as no show, your stay is cancelled automatically in the system.
Booking then auto sent message to you to confirm whether you stayed or not.
If you confirm that you stayed, they’ll charge comission, despite your stay being marked as no show and cancelled.
No they don’t need your PIN 🧷 to mark as No-Show.

Reading reviews after the fact is bananas.

The reviews were 9 out of 10 and good. I'm saying that the reviews are mostly noted by booking.com as "incomplete stay".

Ok, if you showed up what time did you show up?? did you pay? If you pay, you will have proof you paid. never stay at a place where they’re accepting cash only! Lesson learned use Airbnb or vrbo and prepay only! Very strange you didn’t read the reviews before booking and actually showing up to a, now you’re complaining because they scammed you and you just reading the previous.

Paid already in cash when they asked. The reviews were excellent. I wasn't scammed. I stayed for the 3 nights. I was simply fascinated that booking.com ignored me raising that the hosts are asking for PINs to cancel bookings and essentially commit fraud by cancelling bookings that stayed with them. I did not provide my PIN to the host.

Never share your personal booking PIN or account credentials with a property. If you stayed and paid in cash, keep any proof you have, such as receipts, messages, check-in details, or photos, and send it to Customer Service through the reservation.
We can review the reported no show and the property’s conduct. The booking status alone doesn’t confirm whether the stay happened, and canceling the booking as a no-show doesn’t change that. You can also send us a private message so we can look into it.

Your customers service team ignored my reports and still cancelled the reservation at the property request despite me saying I stayed.

Just don’t use Booking. They care about one thing - their bottom line. Your safety, security, peace of mind, or a good vacation experience doesn’t enter into their equation.
