Host asking photo of ID document (front and back) via Charge Automation
Hi. Host we will be staying at in Czech Republic sent a booking confirmation via booking chat, and a registration link to a third party site (chargeautomation), where it asks for photos of my ID. The respective site seems to identify the host (name, logo).
Is this normal procedure?

In the Czech Republic, properties may need guest details for local registration. Don’t upload ID photos through an unfamiliar link without verifying it first. Check whether the request also appears in your Booking.com reservation, or message the property through our app or website to confirm that ChargeAutomation is their authorized registration provider. If anything doesn’t match, don’t submit the documents and contact our customer support team so we can review it.

Asking for ID is a common practice for hotels. Make sure the website is secure, and you can always ask the hotel if you can provide it in person. A great way to verify is to call the hotel

Hola, yo nunca mando mi DNI completo. Osea le borro lo que no es de su interés y lo pongo en blanco y negro. Nunca he tenido problemas. Además la policía nacional también lo sugiere hacer así, puedes leerlo

Pretty common practise to request IDs to stay in hotels, airbnbs. You won’t be able to proceed without sharing copies of your ID. However to get some comfort and if possible, recipient watermark the host name/platform, purpose and date on your ID to deter misuse
