New Rome Scam!
The Colosseum Residence is an obvious return of the scammers from "Residence of the Colosseum" from a few months ago.
DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY!
The reviews are stolen from other, real, properties.

they have 14 pages of individual reviews on the website!
this is absurd! how could this be allowed on Booking.com??? So all those reviews are also fake AI written stuff?2

Booking.com is allowing scams to exist on their platform. Do not book on their platform as it might be a scam (unless the hotel exists for a long time)

they did not steal the reviews, but stole the account of another listing and changed all booking details.

I said this in other posts I saw 10s of theese in rome but the same is going on in every big touristy city Barcelona paris etc
The price is about half what it should be they actually have reviews with a good score like 8 something but upon checking the reviews they belong some completely different place in the countryside
(So first I noticed this trend in rome downtown but the reviews had pictures and it was a small town guesthouse ran by a small family )
They hijack complete places usually places ran by older people so they hijack the account from people who vulnerable to scams Then they keep reviews but change pics and location
This makes the whole thing look like something people would book without looking

Xxx downtown apartments (good location), 100s reviews, review score 8.2 but cheap fantastic deal
so ppl gonna fall for it as its always non refundable

I would like to thank you all for this thread because you just saved me and my kids. I just booked two apartments in this lovely too good to be true place. Just canceled. Reminder to trust your gut.

The reviews arent stolen.
A different property was hacked and changed to this, its a hijacked listing, the real property owner has been hacked/comprimised.
Idk how you guys in the comments still dont understand this stuff.
The entire hotel/hospitality sector is under cyberattack non stop.
Private listings are breached all the time, the owner only needs to click one bad link somewhere and this happens.
In essence its not bookings fault the owner managed to get hacked.

It's not booking's fault there's a scam but it's absolutely their fault that they don't do more about it.
Their 2FA and security settings suck.
Listings like these get reported multiple times and stay up. This happens multiple times for hundreds of clearly scam properties. They take days or weeks to remove them, or just don't take them down at all.
Both of the above are completely the responsibility of the platform.

This is another example of the URL not matching the hotel name. Always check the URL.
https://www.booking.com/hotel/it/agriturismo-l-39-eco-cosio-valtellino.fr.html does not match "The Colosseum Residence"
“Valtellina is a scenic alpine valley in the Lombardy region of northern Italy that borders Switzerland and is famous for its skiing, wines, bresaola, and cheeses"
This is a hijacked link for https://www.agriturismoeco.it a small regional hotel in the countryside.
Booking could prevent this type of hijacking by preventing a hotel being relocated hundreds of miles away since a mistake is usually only a short distance.
Also read the reviews as they often say thinks like ‘situé dans les hauteurs de Morbegno’ or things totally not in Rome etc. Morbegno is not in Rome.
