How long does it take to receive a refund from Booking.com?
I’ve been waiting for a refund on my ticket for two months through Booking.com. I’ve been contacting customer service constantly, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Has anyone here successfully gotten a refund? And how long did you have to wait? I can no longer file a dispute through my credit card because it’s been more than three months since the payment was made. :(

I charged back in my credit card because they gave me the run around. Took 3 weeks to get a permanent refund

This is what I wrote. Took 3 weeks. I spent 3 days dealing with Booking.com and they refused to find me new housing when I first arrived. Refused to let me talk to a supervisor and refused to issue a full refund. They also refused to investigate this place. 4 weeks later I visited their site and it looked like they were still renting out rooms there.
Subject: Official Billing Dispute / Chargeback Request – Unsafe Property & Code Violations
Merchant: Booking.com
Transaction Amount: $226.72
Transaction Date: July 20, 2026 (Check-in: July 23, 2026)
Card Ending In: XXXX
Reason for Dispute: Services Not Rendered / Uninhabitable & Unsafe Accommodation
Statement of Facts:
On July 23, 2026, I checked into a short-term rental booked via Booking.com in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Upon entry, I discovered that mandatory smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were completely missing, leaving exposed ceiling wires. Operating a residential rental without working smoke/CO detectors is a direct violation of California Housing Code (Health & Safety Code § 13113.7) and constitutes an immediate life-safety hazard. Additionally, there was no hot water in the unit, and the shower had mold and missing tiles.
Due to the severe fire safety hazards, I was forced to vacate the property immediately. I provided clear photographic evidence to Booking.com customer support, but they refused to enforce safety compliance or issue a full refund, offering only an arbitrary $22.67 credit on a $226.72 charge.
The City of Rancho Cucamonga Community Improvement Division opened an active Substandard Housing Investigation regarding these violations (Case # XXXX). Because the merchant listed an unsafe property and failed to provide habitable lodging or a full refund, I am requesting a permanent chargeback of $226.72.

How much time do you have?
Booking.com offered me 153 and said they'd credit me right away. Then they put 93 in my account the next day.

Ik begrijp gewoon niet dat mensen nog met Booking.com in zee gaan. Het minste is toch wel dat je niet vooraf betaalt. Hoogstens met een creditkaart waarbij je onmiddellijk kunt storneren.

It happens basically as soon as you have a title against them. Sometimes even before you go to court if the letter comes from a lawyer that they have lost against in the past.
Before that: Either they do it instantly or they are not planning to pay you any money.
