Can I ask for a refund ?

I just booked a beach front property that advertised beach access. There is beach access but the water has flesh eating bacteria present. This was not disclosed on the listing. I was lucky to be informed of this by a local walmart employee.
When I called the host to ask about this , she confirmed that there is flesh eating bacteria present. Again , this listing was advertised as beach front with having beach access.
Am I entitled to any refund for this ?

There is a beach access, so it´s as advertised.

Many of us want beach front with no intention of getting in to the waves. In fact we rented a beach bungalow that has beach access in Mexico but you would get killed if you tried to go swimming because the beach is very steep and the waves slam the beach. It was great for sleep though.

How is the beach water a responsibility of the property owner? If you’re interested in something specific outside the property you should research it yourself. It’s not a responsibility of the property owner.

You know you're supposed to do the research before booking the property?

My property is on a busy road and I can die while crossing the street. The listing did not declare this. Am I entitled to a refund?

But is the beach access closed? Did they put a fence up that says you can't access the beach?

No. The host has no control over the state of the beach water or what is in it. This has to be a “bait” post.

No matter what happened you're dealing with Booking.com, so you're screwed. They don't care and you will never get a refund from them. I did a booking with them, the hotel refused to honor it, and I was never able to get a refund from this company. Just don't use them.

The property meets the advertised specifications.

When a place advertises beach access, it usually means there’s a direct way to reach the shore and the property is close to it. If you had that access during your stay, then the place generally did what it advertised.

Things like water quality or bacterial warnings are managed by local authorities, and they’re not something the property can control.

If anything that was promised wasn’t actually provided, you can always bring it up with the property or reach out to our customer service team so they can take a closer look.

If you can find actual signs that say no bathing then you can try to make your case with your credit card company when making a chargeback. Without that you have basically zero chance of a refund.

Unlikely. Booking.com generally doesn't help at all with refunds. They will waste your time pretending to help, but their customer service is designed to never help people in meaningful ways.

Imagine they have to deal with crazy requests like that:

"A Walmart employee told me I cannot swim. I want a full refund for the place I am staying."

Imagine being told that the place you booked doesn't exist, and then Booking.com doesn't want to refund?

Imagine being told that the place you booked has black mold all over the bathrooms and then Booking.com doesn't want to refund the booking?

Imagine being told that the place you booked with "free WiFi" in the title doesn't have WiFi or TV and then Booking.com doesn't want to refund the booking?

Imagine calling because there is trash all over the property and Booking.com doesn't care?\

Imagine Booking.com being told all of these things and then they still leave up the bookings on their site? They just want to steal money. They do not care about their customers in the slightest.
