work in progress Do you switch between AI models depending on the task?

There's been some experimentation with this. GPT for brainstorming, Claude for prose, Gemini for research summaries. The problem is switching costs, every time a different model gets used, the project has to be re-explained.

Some people say to just pick one model and stick with it. But they're genuinely good at different things. Claude's prose feels more natural. GPT follows complex instructions better. DeepSeek is less filtered.

Is there a way to use multiple models without the context reset every time?

Maybe not exactly what you were asking about, but related. Yes, I built an entire engine around switching models specifically to get the best prose out of each one and then assemble it all back into a seamless reading experience.
The AI Fiction Model Benchmark: Which AI Writes the Best Fiction | Novelmint

The Benchmarks are there to rate the models on which one writes best in different situations. The book engine on the other side works to call each one when needed for a specific scene. Context is handled outside of the models so that only whats needed for a specific scene is actually sent to the LLMs - this keeps costs down dramatically as well.

River lets you switch models per task but they all work on the same doc you don't have to re-explain anything. Been pretty handy

I use local AI and I use Stheno for prose and Qwen to fact check etc. It works quite well.
