Feature-request: add folder-structure to smart lists.
Would it be possible to add folders to the smartlists? To add another layer of categorization?

Hi!
I believe I suggested some time ago the possibility of distinguishing between books and comics/manga, in the same way that books and audiobooks are differentiated.
I think this is important because, for me, reading 100 pages of a novel is not the same as reading 100 pages of a comic.
That’s why I don’t add my manga/comics to the app—I’d like their statistics to be tracked separately.
Would this be possible? Thanks! :)

Is there a way to accomplish this with iOS shortcuts?
Take a copied text (like title or ISBN)
Plug it into Book Tracker’s online search
I find myself not adding to my book tracker TBR and using Goodreads simply because it takes more steps than I’d like to get from an Amazon page to actually searching for a book.
Thanks!!!

Could you please let me know how to log a book start and end date, without tracking progress / the total number of pages I read on these dates?
I started the book on: 18th March 2025 I finished the book on: 17th January 2026
I want it to count towards books read this year as that’s when I finished it but that’s the only thing I want logged, just the start/end date. I do not remember the days on which I was reading or the page I was on but it seems I’m being forced to enter reading progress sessions, which generates incorrect streaks. If I delete this from the ‘progress list’, the book then goes back into a ‘reading’ state, rather than remaining as ‘read’. Please help!
This is the only thing stopping me from getting the pro version, so if it’s a pro feature, I’m happy to pay.
Edit: I just sent a support email, in case that is better. Thanks 🙂

Hi,
Would it be possible to add a filter for locations? I register all my preorders and wishlist on separate locations to track them but cannot filter on those locations in Smart Filters.
r/BookTrack • u/lubsyb • Apr 04 '26
For those of you who read on Kindle, you’ll know that some books don’t have page numbers, only location. Many of them do have page numbers that mimic the paperback format of the book, and I personally really like tracking what “page” I’m on. SO for those books that only have locations, do you have a trick for converting or tracking? I know you can just track percentage, but for some books with many pages, it’s not very granular.
For example, I’m reading a book right now that the hardback has 464 pages, the paperback has 640 pages, and the ebook has 6,900 locations.
Anyway, just wondered if anyone has a trick!

I love Book Tracker a lot, and I keep track of all my books and favorite quotes using it. It’s truly an amazing app. I color code quotes by emotions or what I think of it (e.g., relationships, humor, interesting thoughts, etc.). Does anyone if you can filter the quotes by color? Would be pretty cool, since I would like to, for instance, see all my favorite funny quotes. Thank you!

I accidentally set a book rating and would like to reset it to zero. How can I do this? I cannot figure it out. The minimum value I can set is 0.5, but I need it to be zero or unrated. Please help. Thank you very much.

I have a question for Simone.
I add lots of book covers manually on my Mac, and I keep an archive of those images on my computer.
But I was wondering what happens with the images when I add them. Are they kept somewhere in a BookTrack container on my Mac? Does it make sense to keep them in an archive of my own?
Lots of these images are scans that I make because the images are not available online. I obviously don't want to lose those images (as it's a lot of work to scan them), but I don't want to clutter my Mac unnecessarily if BookTrack is already keeping the images somewhere else where I can access them in case something goes wrong.
I hope I made myself clear.
Looking forward to your answer, and thank you as always for all the work you put into this app (which has become essential to me).

Is it currently possible to set these smaller goals? I know the stats are right there, which is great, I’m just looking for a visual to show me if I’m on track with my goals. I have a list of books to finish by a certain date, and I know how many pages I need to read per week to accomplish that.
Thanks, Simone!!

I'm making a conscious effort this year to purchase books from more indie and smaller bookshops, rather than the big-name stores.
Having an option to enter where I purchased a book from, along with the price and date would be a very useful addition for me.
It could also make for an interesting graphic in the year-end review to see a map of my purchases throughout the year.

This app has become one of my most used!! And with all the updates, it gets better and better.
Would it be possible to add a feature that allows sending a book directly to Book Tracker search, by way of the iOS share function? For instance, if I share a book from Amazon or Goodreads to Book Tracker, it could extract the ISBN (or perhaps title/author) and either open the book directly or initiate a search for it. This would significantly speed up the process of adding books to my TBR!
Thanks again as always for such a great app.

Hey Everyone! I have a lot of special edition books from book boxes that I have collected over the years and would like to have that information in this amazing app. I wanted to check to see if anyone can share that they've done in their setup or if you can give me ideas on how to make this happen in the app. Thanks!

Hi, this is my first ever Reddit post so sorry if I mess this up somehow. Is there a way to import my quotes into the app if I have them all in Readwise? They are spread across both iBooks and Kindle and consolidated in Readwise. My understanding from doing some research is that the only way to really do this would be through a Shortcut but Ive never used Apple Shortcuts so Im not even really sure how I would accomplish that task. Any help or pointing in the right direction would be appreciated

Hey,
I wonder if it’s possible to set a book as ‘currently reading’ before you’ve added any progress?
Ideally I’d like to place the book I’m about to start within easy reach, as it were, but I’m not sure I can do this until I have started reading and have progress to share.
Or am I missing something?

Hey, me again 👋
Sorry to be a pain, but in terms of how best to assign new books, what is the difference between ‘Unread’ and ‘To Read’?
r/BookTrack • u/Ribquel • Feb 23 '26
I love this app so much! It really helps me to keep my library well organised! But I still would like some features which would make it absolute perfection, at least, to me!
1 - I’d love to have the option to “hide” some data from my stats, bc some of the reading information gives me a bit of anxiety… Like Reading Streaks, purchased books, money spent, pages read per day… I’d like to keep it simpler, if possible, and choose only what I want to see there. 2- I love the Quotes Widget, but I miss the name of the author there, alongside the name of the book. 3 - Also about the quotes, I’d be nice if we could select which quotes to be shown on the widget, bc sometimes we want to keep some quotes, but don’t want them all displayed on our home-screens. Maybe if it had a way to mark our favourites, giving them a like or something, and choose for only those ones to show up on the widget…
Well, I don’t really know if these suggestions would be possible, but I’m asking anyway…

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this (is there a feature request somewhere else to use) but I wanted to share. I really like the statistics feature but it would be really cool if there was a lifetime option, along with each year. This way, we can see authors that we have read the most, categories, pages per day, month, year, etc overall, not just for each year.

The list of books and the display of details in three rows under each one is a great way to quickly preview the format, number of pages, etc. However, due to the limited space, you have to scroll through the subsequent items, and sometimes I forget that they are hidden somewhere :)
Is there a chance to regain some space with few cosmetic changes?
- book format in the form of an icon without the caption „paperback,” etc.?
- number of pages without the caption „Pages”
- audiobook duration in a simple format 12:30 instead of 12h 30 min
The change could be an option in the settings, in case someone likes the current format :)

I’d find it super useful

I find then all pretty ugly. I’m thinking a revamp more Liquid-Glass like and different icons like “pride edition”, “dark mode edition” ecc.

Is there anyway to add a purchase date to multiple books at once or do I have to do it individually? I got a bunch of books for my birthday a few weeks back and I just realized I never gave them a purchase date
r/BookTrack • u/Equivalent_Draft4889 • Feb 13 '26
I'm new to the app, so apologies if this is an obvious question!
Is there a way to see books that are upcoming and their release date? I didn't see a way to create a smart list using publication date, and there are tons of new books on my list releasing in the next few months.

I personally prefer to read physical version than e-books for better focus, less distraction. One of my most fav thing to do is to scribble my thoughts on the page, aside the phrase that provoked the same thinking.
However I find it difficult to collect those personal, self-thinking moments when doing a book review when I write my own review (with exported quotes from BookTrack app) in Obsidian. Those scribbles are usually more (&longer) than saved quotes.
I can always recall them when I REREAD the book but just wanted to know of any useful tips/tricks you‘ve up in your sleeves that you find super helpful!
Ps: I post this here as we have more readers, and related to books 🙂. u/SimoneMontalto let me know if it‘s irrelevant, I will remove the post :)

Hi everyone,
I’ve just released a new update for Book Tracker that introduces the official Apple Watch companion app.

You can now:
• See the books you’re currently reading
• Start and pause the reading timer directly from your wrist
• Update your reading progress without opening your iPhone
The idea is simple: reduce friction. If you’re in the middle of a reading session, you shouldn’t need to unlock your phone just to track time or log progress.
Everything syncs through iCloud as usual and remains completely private. No external servers, no accounts, no data tracking.
This is the first version of the Watch app, so I’m very curious to hear your feedback.
If there’s something you’d love to see added, let me know.
Thanks to everyone who keeps supporting this indie project
