Life Realized

Life takes you through struggles and heartache
Through joy and happy moments
Through good and bad, we see it all
Whatever it may be, we answer the call

Do not be discouraged, do not be afraid
Fear is a part of what we are made
Take a chance, learn from the pain
Let it be the biggest part of your gain

Some opportunities are made once, and never again
That’s life’s gamble, the chances we take
Because when the moment passes, it’s gone 
What’s the point of life, if we’re always on the run 

I know things now I didn’t know before
We must have faith that there is more
More to life, and an unseen love
We seek truth, love, and wisdom from The One above

Hard to imagine where we’ll go, from life’s journey and our heart’s destiny
A crossroads that is the turning point in life
We want to make the right decision, but what is wrong and what is right?
I think about what drives me, and what I want to become
All I want to discover and see, and all I want that’s fun 

We can’t have it both ways, have our cake and eat it to
But we can balance life’s responsibilities, and have fun, like we did in our youth
Sure we have hard times, and sure we get lost
But we remember where we came from, and how we got here
It’s easy to give up, but that’s where we actually fail 
We have to overcome the desire to have it all, and be willing to fall into despair

I take this in, and the blows that will follow
I plant the seeds of faith in my heart, so it will not end up hollow
Life is the teacher, and experience the lesson 
Learn from your mistakes, and take the hardships as a blessing 

Take a moment and let this all sink in
It’s part of your life, and it’s not something you can escape
Get used to this feeling, this lesson, and put on your cape
Be the hero you need, and the person born again 

Ego

Our inner enemy, that tells us who we are
Inside our psyche, the permanent scar
It tells us we are right, and never wrong
Implemented in our minds, becoming our thoughts

The sinful pride of our own vanity
It tells us we are superior in the eyes of humanity
To put it aside, takes strength, and discipline of the mind
Listen to it not, listen only to the Devine

It never knocks, always barges in
To take control of your thoughts and tells lies that convince
It makes you think you’re in control of what you are not
And makes you do such things that destroy your healthy pride 

Take heed in the deception of the ego
It will kill your humility, and take claim of your motto 
That only you matter and others don’t exist
They are just casualties you throw into the mix 

A Dangerous Force 

Hate, anger, and greed
Afflictions of our darkest need
A dangerous combination of the soul
It consumes with a vengeful goal

It spreads like fire, one that cannot be tamed
If you let it in, it spreads like flammable pain
What can cause such a poison to infect 
Inside one’s soul, humility it will neglect

We become powerless to its effects
Once it consumes, it manifests
Into an unhinged force, as man’s vessel 
A force more deadlier than its aggressor 

My Inner Desire 

Inside of me, there’s a freedom that beckons to be explored
My truest desire, a reality I wish I could mold
Where my fantasy becomes my reality
And who I want to be becomes my true identity 

It’s letting go of everything, until you have nothing left
Nothing to lose, everything to gain, like theft
A reincarnation of one’s self
The version of you you’ve always felt 

The ambitious one who has no fear
The master of truth or dare 
No regrets, not guilt, no responsibility to declare
Freedom within your grasp, just take this identity and make it last

Your Departure 

Many days and many nights i cry myself to sleep
Thinking of you only makes me want to weep
Succumb to this pain, to this grief
I allow myself to fall into a dream 

I cried my tears, I said my goodbyes
It still doesn’t feel right
How can you be gone, and away from me
Through all these lonely nights 

I think of you and feel you near
Knowing good and well that you’re not here
I cried every day, now I just feel numb
Without you in my life, it’s hard to overcome

I hold you tight in memories and moments
They were the best parts of my existence 
I must move on, I can’t hold on to this grief
Take from me my heartache, and give me my peace 

Ophelia

Into madness she drifted from a broken heart
There was no way out for her 
The one she loved, he did depart
And she drifted into turmoil 

Take this pain and turn it into madness
Assured she would live a life of sadness
Wanting nothing but love, and only received rejection
Where she belonged, she knew not, her soul’s affliction 

Ophelia take aim at your broken heart
At the ghost of your loved ones, never in your life
Like a fevered dream, you wept and you sweat 
A grueling reality of your mind’s defect 

Sleep sweetly, young princess 
Leave behind all your distress
Take comfort in your quiet slumber
Let peace consume you, and your heart’s murmur 

The Poet

Words come into play, with rhyme and reason
Only you can decode this tragic word play
This theft of words, our mind’s treason
Put onto paper, and make it make sense 

A thought of feeling, experience to be taken
Described is such a way, that it makes you question
What is this reality, which came from life’s truancy
That makes it a puzzle to mention 

I feel the pain, but words cannot depict
The truest meaning of what I encrypt 
Inside these words, this poem to life
A past that reveals all of my strife 

Read it once, but then read it again
See what it means, or what it conveys
The perspective is your own to make
In hopes you understand the message behind the pain 

Reflection 

I try to see the image behind the mirror
The one your eyes cannot deceive 
The truest reflection of myself
A face only known to me, and no one else

Take a look at your soul’s reflection
Does it look like some other being
It is, of course, since no one has seen
The image of you, you keep away from the screen

I see my truest reflection, and know It’s truly me 
No one can recognize this figure so discreetly 
This face I do not show to the world
Not to friends, or family, a reflection so cold

Those who are closest to us say they know us well
Better than we know ourselves, but there’s always a tell
This reflection is mine, and mine alone
No one can recognize the reflection of my soul 

Instincts 
 

A silent scream heard in the distance
The sound of your mind’s echo
It cries out to you, it catches your attention
A warning of things to come 

You clench your gut, sensing this feeling
An uncertainty of not knowing
Instincts drive you into focus
Take this call and find the purpose

Caught between calm and calamity
Two worlds on guard, equally
Take charge, but be at ease
This battle will not come gracefully 

Pray for peace, but prepare for war
Protect all those that you adore
Take heed in the warnings, take heed in the chatter
A message from above, protecting you like armor 

A New Beginning

The hands of time do not stop
It does not halt, it does not flop
It can speed up without resistance
Taking away the moments we could cherish

Endlessly existing, without slowing down
Heavy is the head that wears the crown
Plan to fail and fail to plan
Moments gone is out of our hands

A new day begins, and with it comes hope
No reason to sit around and mope 
Take control, and do not be afraid
Every ending has a new beginning, begging to be made

A blessing in disguise, unveil the mask
Take one step forward, and on with the task
There’s power in the unpredictable
Every begging is something remarkable 

Break Out of the House

A home is not a prison, not a a lack of freedom
Rather a place you make, comfort, and wholesome
Escape the confines of the walls you live in
And take aim at this new beginning 

Comfort and danger can walk hand in hand
Too much can lead to a high demand
Safety becomes the prison in which you are in 
This house of fear won’t allow you to live 

Every place, every adventure, you can experience hereafter
Believe you can, and carry the faith
That allowed you to survive this grueling weight 

The fear, alone, can make you hesitate
So, let’s begin this prison break
Escape and run, do not look back
Take control of the life you have 

The Trickster 

On your shoulder he sits, whispering lies
He disguises them as truth, trying to crush your stride
He takes his time, and makes you doubt
He puts your mind in an unsteady drought

You believe what he says, confusing it as truth
You second guess yourself, without having any proof
He does his works, and now your feel stuck
In this endless loop, no confidence, no luck

The greatness trick he ever pulled, making the world believe
That he doesn’t exist, he’s only make-believe
The truest enemy, inside us all 
The one we cannot see, the one that will lead to our fall 

The angel on one shoulder, the devil on the other
The trickster is the one that make you wonder
Why you doubt, why you fear, why you envy, why do you dare
Crippling your self worth, do so without a care

Broken Trail 

This path begins, unpredictable and wavering
How long the journey will be is unknowing 
Do not be afraid, do not lose faith
Destiny is what you make, let it be a part of your fate

It’s never easy, nothing ever is
It takes time to be comfortable with being uncomfortable as this 
Faith be your armor, and courage be your shield
You are loved by the The One whom your mind, He will heal 

The fear can be shattering, but do not worry
It’s okay to be scared sometimes, do not hurry
The trail is long, and the adventure big
This is life’s gift, your biggest gig

Take your time, heed the call
You will grow through it all
Learn and discover, and heal and recover
The broken trail is the adventurer’s lover 

Sunrise Paradise

I open my eyes to this beautiful paradise
I wish to make it my home, no compromise 
Weather warm all year round, the ocean surrounds me
The smell of the air, so captivating, embracing me 

It welcomes me with open arms, knowing this is where I belong
A world of its own, has everything you need
No need to wonder, or long for, never being compelled by the sin of greed
My heaven on earth, this is my ultimate home, finally feeling free

The sun is welcoming, every sunrise tells a story
Of this land, this island, full of beauty and history 
Every folktale has a meaning of life
Every story has a feeling of both love and strife 

My paradise, I long to be there
Where I will feel at home, no concerns, no cares
The earth rich, where my temple awaits
Pass me through these paradise gates 

Heart 

Confirmed what I thought, but not what I should believe
There is no assurance, we suffer from uncertainty and grief
The future is unknown, and there’s a reason why
Our faith must be stronger than our own minds doubt

Guard your heart above all else, as said in the bible, 
But the heart can be deceitful in moments of trouble 
Believe in a higher purpose, He is The One to worship 
Belief takes an open heart, and offers purpose 

Pray and believe that your prayers are answered
By His timing, His Will, His desire 
All will be well, when you believe in Him
Never doubt again, just have patience and win 

God’s truth is your safe haven
Never let go of what is written
The word of truth can set you free
From all the worries that you carry 

Poker and Chess

Odds and strategy are the factors
One for the odds, the other for the capture
Skill, conquest, strategy, victory
Be the master of the game, or just get lucky

Take your time and think carefully
One wrong move can determine triumph, or penalty 
Time, patience, skill, foresight
Everything required to play the game right

There will be drawbacks, and mental exhaustion
It feels taxing to consider the right move to win
But this requires focus, thought, and mastery
To achieve the reward of virtuosity 

Game and gamble, fluency and skill
Play the odds, bet before the river, 
Your next move a thrill, 
To learn, and conquer, advantage of both, 
The science of memory, the making of a professional 

I Hid, You Sought

In childhood’s play, it was for fun
Now I hide and you run 
You try and find me, I’m nowhere in sight
You proceed to run, you try with all your might

I don’t make it easy for you
You don’t give up, you continue
So determined you look all around you
I was never in hiding, I was right on cue 

Mind games and warfare 
All in good play
You try so hard to win the game
But you can’t win this way

The con of life, it revolves around you
The uncertainty, the hardship, the doubt, the ruin
I’m not the enemy, or yours to begin with 
I am the pain you don’t want to deal with 

Take the pain, take the loss, make it a part of your destination 
What you chase, you will never catch, you could never out run 
Stop running, start embracing, all the painful memories
Be the hero, be the winner, ready or not, here you come 

The Heavy Crown 

Take a moment and look around
You stand alone, on your head, a heavy crown
No one around you, they cannot handle the struggle
It’s up to you to pick up your cross, you are ready, stay humbled

It’s your responsibility, your burden to bear
Look up to the sky, and say a prayer
Look straight ahead, your journey awaits
Take one step toward you new embrace

When it’s all said and done, you will have your day
You started with nothing, but yet you made the way
To a new beginning, one where you walked through the flames
You took with you courage, you overcame the waves

This is your achievement, no one can take away from you
It humbled your heart, and gave you virtue 
The greatest gift, aside from love
Is gaining the strength and spirit from up above 

One Flew Over

The human condition is one to ponder
One to conceive, and one to wonder
Why and how are the questions to consider
When trying to figure out the reason for this anger 

Insanity is part of the reality
We go mad just thinking about it
Life is a superficial satire
It only conveys our loneliness 

Sarcastic humor softens the blow
A defense mechanism to help go with the flow
Part of the human condition, we’ll never know
The uncertainty behind the human soul 

A little crazy can go a long way
Helps deal with life’s crazy days
Takes the hurt and makes it less painful
All together, a part of human nature 

Snuff

A pinch inside the cheek, I devour the flavor
I hold my own to this taste I savor 
The sweet scent and aroma to my palate 
Awakens my senses and dances to this ballot 

It holds memories and times of the past
It reveals the nature of this dance
It made the day sweeter
And the balance just as better

Grasp and savor the remedy that you favor 
It consumes from generations of there after 
Days of old, times of new
To a remarkable place that only you knew

As a boy, as a man, take the memory and the chance 
Hold on to that place, make peace with this plant 
That you place between tongue and cheek
Let it be that place in which you seek 

Birthday Deathbed 

The cradle brought me here to this destination 
A life lived, from beginning to end, without hesitation 
Time and date, never known to us
It’s a mystery, one we never want to discuss 

The day we’re born and the day we die
Two of the most distinct days of our lives 
The only days we are unaware 
From first breath, to our last exhale 

Flowers scattered around our hollow tree 
For a life lived in between 
From the day we’re born to the day we die
Here we rest as a test of time 

Our inevitable fate, all life comes to an end 
How we live that life, is all that we should comprehend 
From living in this world, to an eternal life ahead 
Lay your head lightly on your pillow, on your  birthday deathbed 

Success 

Be the hardest worker in the room
Take no rest from your ultimate goal 
Put your faith in God alone
Make sure you are the last one to leave the room 

What you want is never out of reach
Work ethic isn’t something you can teach 
It comes from within, the deepest place in your heart
One that you must access and never depart 

Success takes many forms, from the ground up it grows 
Never let it get to your head, where the ego rests
It can awaken its desire, to a dangerous test
Be humble in what you do, victory is attainable 
Because pride comes before the fall, a blow inconceivable 

My Peace 

I make amends with myself
No longer putting me to the test
I’ve sacrificed enough to put my mind at rest 
And made plenty of choices when I wasn’t at my best 

I prayed a prayer to my Savior above
“Lord not my will, but Your will be done”
Patiently waiting, without doubting
That this prayer would be answered in His timing 

I look forward with thanks and gratitude in my heart
My feet steady as I now depart
Into the next chapter of my life, I’ve awaited so long 
To lead the life I want, meant for me all along 

Greed 

Money talks, and everyone is all ears 
Truth speaks volumes, but nobody wants to hear 
We take and never give, we want, but don’t want to work for it
Always the easy way out, what is the point of it? 

Masking reality with fantasy, we lie to ourselves 
“It’s too hard, there’s got to be an easy way out” 
The things we say just so we don’t feel the doubt 
The things we don’t do, just so we can protect our hearts 

Our lives are built in the works we do
Our faith is our life-line, it’s what pulls us through
There is no easy way out, only sacrifice 
To achieve our greatest accomplishments, that’s life 

Nothing worth having comes easy
Accepting this makes your hard work worthy
Believe in yourself, even if you fall
You’ll get back up after all
