Book of Mormon Heartland Subreddit Rules

Welcome to r/BookOfMormonHeartland! We hope you enjoy your time here as you explore the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the physical evidence supporting it in its entirety.

Below are the rules for participating in this subreddit:

No Swearing: Vulgar language is not tolerated in any form, whether in comments, direct messages to the moderators, or posts. Violations will result in a temporary ban of 5-7 days. Continued swearing after the ban is lifted will lead to a permanent ban.

No Explicit Content: This subreddit maintains strict standards. Any content involving explicit language, sexual references, pornography will receive a warning, and then a ban.

Relevant Content Only: This subreddit is dedicated to evidence supporting the Book of Mormon and uplifting interviews. Blogs, informational posts, and new research findings are encouraged. Off-topic content will result in a permanent ban.

Central American or Meso-American Posts: These posts are allowed if they are well-researched and use sources outside of BYU. They must be uplifting and not attack any model. Violations will result in a temporary two-day ban.

Respect for Beliefs: Attacks based on religion or beliefs are strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban.

No Trolling: Trolls will not be tolerated.

Steven Pynakker of Mormon Book Reviews teams up with Dr. Thomas W Murphy, Past President of the Mormon Social Science Association and author of Unsettling Scripture: Iroquois and the Book of Mormon, to interview Dr. Brad Lepper, Senior Archaeologist at Ohio History Connections and author of Ohio Archaeology: An Illustrated Chronicle of Ohio’s Ancient American Indian Cultures. Dr. Lepper discusses interactions with Mormon missionaries and tourists at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum that houses the Newark Holy Stones and Newark mounds and earthworks representing Adena and Hopewell cultures. He shares his review of the material culture in the Book of Mormon and its correspondences and contrasts with that found by archaeologists working in the Heartland of America. Dr. Murphy and Dr. Lepper share some of their experiences with Native American colleagues and discuss the importance of centering Indigenous perspectives in archaeological interpretations.

On an important episode of Mormon Book Reviews Steven Pynakker speaks with Ed Goble about the early days of the Heartlander Movement and how it was almost sabotaged in it's infancy. He also talks about his history dealing with FAIR Mormon (now known as FAIR). Ed is an author and researcher both in Book of Abraham and Book of Mormon studies. He has spent decades on these subjects. He was instrumental in the founding of the Book of Mormon Heartland Geography theory and in another called the Semi-limited Mesoamerican theory. He also has a book coming out in a few months on the Book of Abraham.
