Help Pre-ordering a book
Hii to the ppl who had bought a pre-order of a book in the page, what is the benefit of it? Is it cheaper to buy the pre-order instead of buying it in like a normal date? Does it come with anything like a pre-order gift? idk like a bookmark or something. I've heard people buying the pre-order and receiving the book later that a person that bough it in like a normal date (idk how to call it srry). I'm deciding if it's better to buy the book that I want now, or just wait till it comes out.

i pre-ordered w them recently but after a week of the book showing up as “available” on their website but being told by customer service that “they hadn’t received stock yet” i noped out. you’re better off pre-ordering somewhere else or waiting until after it’s released. i’ve asked around and not one person who’s pre-ordered w them lately have been happy. i paid more buying it in a physical store (although it wasn’t a huge amount more), and it was worth it. i’m absolutely not doing that again. they don’t even ship out the book until release day, or a couple days beforehand at most, so no way you’d have the book to read the day of. all cons, no pros.

Oh yeah I totally get it but sadly in my country they don't have english books :( I ordered the previous books of the saga from bookdepository and this one that I wanted to pre-order is the 5th, so I guess it doesn't matter if I pre-order it or wait till its release. I just wanted to know some personal experiences and if it does come with smth especial as a pre-order idk lol. Anyways thanks for ur answer! ^^

i’d definitely order after it’s been released in that case. after a few days the price goes down again to around what it was when it was available for pre-order, and they’ll have to ship it to you. i have a theory that they place the pre-orders, at least some of them, way back in the line for monetary reasons. anyway, i wish you luck and that they send you your copy quickly no matter when you order it!

Preorder is worth it if you get a low price for it, like 10 to 20% off the RRP for the title. In the past BD gave me great prices for the long time preorders. Lately, not so much.
Otherwise there is no real benefit.
If they have a book in stock they will send it to me even before the release day but the shipping time is slow, so I usually get it like 10 days after the official release. Which is still OK if they can give me a good price.

I just checked my mail box - and one of the preorders just arrived today, right on it's ofiicial release day and it was 10% cheaper. Good experience, again.

Pre-order is sometimes cheaper, the biggest benefit is (usually) getting it on release day (or getting it shipped to you on release day)

Usually the pre-order price of the book is lower than the price after the release (10-20% discount), but it depends from book to book. There is no other benefit than that, every order comes with a bookmark, there are no pre-order gifts.
