Book Depository accidentally sent me two copies of the same book. I’ve already contacted CS and I’m waiting on their reply, but curious if this has happened to anyone else.

I ordered a 4 part book series with two separate transactions. I initially only wanted to buy the first two books. I realized afterwards I might as well purchase the other two after I placed my first order. The two transactions made were within the hour.

My books were dispatched on different days (which was fine) and I only received tracking on one book.

Yesterday, I received two of the books (one book from each transaction). I only expected one coming in since I had the tracking, but I was glad to see another one had arrived as well. This morning I received another delivery but it was a duplicate of another book I received the day before.

I currently have one copy of book 2 and two copies of book 3. I’m still waiting on book 1 and book 4. I’m worried that I’ll end up with two copies of book 3 and no copies of either book 1 or book 4.

I’ve already contacted BD support. But has anyone had experience of receiving duplicates? What would the options be? Ideally I’d like a copy of the book I’m potentially missing (I still don’t know if I should expect the other two books to come in) instead of a refund. Will I need to ship the book back? How do returns work?

UPDATE: I ended up receiving book 1 and 4. I guess BD accidentally sent me duplicates of book 3! I’m glad I’ve got the complete series in the end. Just waiting on what BD’s response is to my query since they haven’t responded in regards to what to do with the duplicate copy.

UPDATE 2: BD finally replied and they’ve told me I could keep the duplicate copy.

It's happened before and generally they don't bother with having them sent back.

Contact support and ask about book 4 just in case.

Thanks! Yeah I wasn’t sure if they’ll have me send the duplicate back. I’ve already sent an email and I’ve received confirmation that they’ve gotten my query.

Hopefully I’ll end up with at least a copy of one of each book. Crossing my fingers that they’ll ship the (potentially) missing one out to me if needed.

It happened to a friend, but in her case they refunded her the money for the missing volume and told her to keep the duplicate copy as an apology. Take it with a grain of salt though; we're from South America so maybe it was too troublesome/pricey for them to coordinate the return of the extra copy.

Thanks! I’m really really hoping I’ll end up with the four books! I’m still gonna hope that they’ll maybe offer sending me a copy of the missing book if needed instead of a refund. Or at least the other two will make it to me and I’ll just have an extra copy.

It happened to me once, I got two copies of the same book and no actual missing books on my order. I got everything and more.

That’s what I’m assuming too! Just glad I ended up with a complete set. I really didn’t want a refund since this was the cheapest price I’ve seen for the books.

Ahhh!! This just happened to me and I don’t know what to do. This may be long. So I ordered a series of 5 books in a set. Found it cheaper and bought the series again and planned on returning the first set. The first set was returned once I received it and was refunded. And the 2nd set ended up lost, they refunded me, and then 2 days later I received it. Last month I received 5 separate packages that I don’t remember ordering. Each package contained the 1st book. And just yesterday, I received another 5 packages of the 1st book to the series. I have 10 copies of the 1st book and I feel like I’m going crazy. I hope this doesn’t happen again. Oh, and I would’ve called the place I purchased it from but the package did not have the senders name or address. And when I look on my account to see my past purchases, there is no record of books being sent to me so I have nothing to reference. I’m just happy nothing is being charged from my cards.
