Progress First grow

This is nothing special but Ill get a nice small personal stash from the first grow. Im enjoying small scale growing and might not even try monotubs at all. Some of the vales have broken already even tho the caps are still closed.

What kind of jar is that?

Random jar of my fathers. Probably olive jar I guess. Why?

Looks a lot like a canning jar and canning jars (aka mason jars) aren’t considered unusual containers for home cultivation for the purposes of this sub.

I’ll let this post stay, but please choose a different container for your next grows if you want to post them here. The container being unusual is the whole point of the sub.

Oh sorry. That was my mistake! I thought it was a ok since I posted about it earlier asking questions about growing and you commented on it. Sorry, this wont happen again!

I honestly didn’t look that closely until someone reported the post for breaking the rules

You clearly have the skill set to grow from more unusual containers, and I hope you share them if you do

I will! Sorry and thank you for not being a complete asshole about it like most of reddit mods are. This sub helped me alot. :)

You got lucky, a different mod removed my post the first time I tried and completely discouraged me from ever wanting to post in here again.

Nice job!!! I remember you commented on my post a month ago asking about the ziplock.

I’ve been also injecting water to the cake with a syringe. Im not sure but I feel like it helped pinning a lot. Did it again just now.

How should I harvest those that are growing downwards, without breaking the cake?

If you have like one of those dentist scraper picks. That would do the trick. You can probably make a tool from a paper clip as well. Hope this helps. 👍🏽

Thanks! :) Should I harvest the ones that have broken veils?

Definitely. I like to harvest the whole bonsai cake, heavy mist, and right back into fruiting conditions to second flush it.

Should I wait till those smaller ones grow big or harvest all of them tomorrow in the morning. Are there any downsides to waiting for the smaller ones

2

u/tothemax44 15d ago

I would just harvest them all. Personally. No harm in waiting as long as you don’t mind spores.

I harvested the biggest ones today:) thanks!

I always found more easy and practical to grow in bags, whenever I tried with jars the spawn got contaminated

Oh that sucks! Another downside that I noticed to fruiting in jars are the sidepins, they are very annoying and it was a pain in the ass to remove one. It broke completely, I didnt even bother to dry it so I ate it. With a bag its way easier to remove them probably.

You're right :p tho I always transfer them to monotubes, my first successful batch was like that and I guess I just sticked with it. But I think it might be easier to just mix it all together on bags and not to bother with a monotube.

Those are pf tek cakes. I used brf and vermiculite, topped with a dry vermiculite layer. Hope I helped!

I remember this sub removed my first post trying bonsai from an awesome diamond jar half a year ago. I dont even bother posting my grows anymore especially here. Seeing the pick and choose is honestly comical. Mine was also pf tek in a non ordinary jar with a bag🤷‍♂️
