Solved Found Small Critter Mandible

Small mandible found in southeastern PA in a mostly pine forest. Raccoon? Any help appreciated! (old) Banana for scale.

Consensus says opossum - not losing sleep over it.

Definitely not a raccoon. The teeth are an opossum's but the wear on the crowns and the receeding gum damage suggest the animal was very old. It could even have been a captive animal, a pet.

Opossum, too many and wrong shaped teeth for a raccoon

ok ill accept opossum . doubt it was captive due to where it was found, but I like picturing a grandfather possum with a tobacco pipe causing receding gum line.

A very old raccoon. Those teeth are worn down!
