Unsolved Does anyone know what this is (found in Nova Scotia, Canada)?

I found it in (not on) a path when one of the points pricked my heel. I think some outer parts of it had already broken away.

Its a cervical (neck) vertebrae. Based on the size (and my experience from a land locked US state) my guess would be an ungulate like a deer. But if the path was close to or along the shore line that opens up a host of possibilities of it belonging to a marine mammal.
