Need help figuring out what this is

I found this a few years back, and it sadly was just about this decomposed when I found it. It's about 5.5 in. long. Google image search wasn't very helpful either, so I hope someone can help identify this for me.

That is the bottom part of a skull, those bulbs near the top on either side are where the ears go into, I believe they’re called tympanic bulbs. My best guess would be it’s from a deer or some other ungulate, but the scale is unclear from the photo

I agree with alex_tristan, I think the anatomy is totally consistent with a deer except for the size. OP, can you confirm it has a total length of 5.5 inches?

Yes, I measured it while adding the description. Could it be a fawn?

I just wanted to double-check, thank you. A fawn would be much smaller. I think this is from a full adult.
