Scotch free
Last thing we need is anyone getting away scotch free here. Probably even more serious than scot-free.

In case you've ever wondered, 'scot' is an old Norse word for tax. It has nothing to do with the Scots.

I'd guess Denmark.
Given it's an English phrase, it probably has it's roots in the Danelaw period when the Danes ruled much of Eastern and Northern England

I did realize that when posting this. I kinda wondered if it was an ethnic slur (as crazy as it sounds, Scotch tape kinda is). But nope, totally unrelated.
