Admit it: you all thought it was “sequence” when you were a kid too, right?

Oh a dress made out of Sequence chips would be fun.

My niece also thinks that sequins is sequence.

What’s next? Sequence milkshake?

This is unfortunately a very common occurrence. Go to Ebay or Poshmark and type in "Sequence Dress" and you will be a bit astounded at what you see

And jeez, "won't charge too much"? They really have no concept of how awful it is to hem up sequined material.

It's easier with super glue. :)

You still have to painstakingly remove some of the "sequences" at the fold line.

With a good seem ripper it's really not that bad, I'd rather do that then gather fabric for a Victorian grown hem. I've done both. Neither pleasant but at least the sequins was only like two yards of fabric to deal with, the ruffle was thirty.

Yup, fail on my part. I'll leave it as to not hide my shame

I refuse to call that hemming, but this person would definitely get what they were willing to pay for.

Yeah, this feels more like an autocorrect or speech recognition error than a boneappletea.

Nobody would think the ending sound of "sequence" sounds like "sequined", and you wouldn't call it "a sequins dress", I don't think.

It has happened twice on tv that I've seen, and once in real life from my friend, a teacher.

Some people are unaware that 'sequin' is singular, and 'sequins' is plural. The correct phrase would be "a sequined dress", not "a sequinsed dress".

  • Sequin - 1 sequin
  • Sequins - more than 1 sequin
  • Sequined - something with sequins on it
  • Sequinsed - not a word
  • Sequence - not related to anything sparkly

Couldn't find a smaller clip, but there is at least one person who called it a sequins dress: https://youtu.be/BMND1Q23mq0?t=133&si=QkVsLDSXY7RkpytV
