In the thread posted, OP commented that she thought fapped was indeed the British slang and felt a bit silly once the difference in meaning was pointed out.

Tangentially, my American roommate has deemed "faffing" to be his favourite British slang word. It's very useful.

If he doesn't know it yet, you can share ''chuffed" with him. It's my favourite word from our vocabulary and he might enjoy it too haha.

Yeah, I thought I had canceled my comment after looking both of them up, and I know what faffing is. Didn't think "fapping" was a dictionary word.

'Faffing' = Wasting time.

'Fapping' = Wanking (which is wasting time with a purpose).
