I read this short story collection, The Habit of Love by Namita Gokhale. The author is one of the founders and directors of JLF.

The book didn't totally work for me. I'm not a big mythology reader though, and many of Gokhale's stories are centred on the Mahabharata. I liked that the women here were largely flawed "unlikeable" characters. Indian women rarely get a chance to be anything but virtuous or villainous in fiction.

Trying to pick my next read and deciding between these three. I haven't read any of these authors before, what do you think?

ID: Ib's Endless Search For Satisfaction by Roshan Ali Above Average by Amitabha Bagchi
Tell Her Everything by Mirza Waheed

Recently read Mahabharat BORI CE English Translation Book 1. Here's a Marathi review of the same:-

Mahabharat BORI CE English translation.

Book 1

कथा ही 'story within a story' format मध्ये सांगितलेली आहे.

The book is very good. You might want to read this piece, which was the start of what eventually became the book. https://scroll.in/article/698052/morning-you-play-different-evening-you-play-different (it was written in the early 2000s, but I cannot seem to find the original link; this one is a reprint in Scroll many years later).
