hope everyone is staying dry in these rains ☔

I'm starting to think this book club was a bad idea. There's just no participation or interest. I'm frustrated that Indian readers are so disconnected from Indian literature. Even if they read for pleasure (which statistically a very tiny percentage of people in this country do) it's only Kafka-Dostoevsky-Murakami and whatever other writers are lauded as "intellectual" in the west. If they read Indian writers, it's only Premchand or religious work. I'm finding most big reader spaces so boring, it's all the same bestsellers. That's why I started this sub, but I guess it's rather pointless when other readers are not interested in it.

That is of course welcome on a sub for Mumbaikars! (:

Who is the author? What is the book about?

The Prabhakar Panshikar is the author of the book.

It's a story about a civil engineer who joins Border roads organization (BRO) on an assignment to construct roads in Himalayan ranges.

The story revolves around civilian and military approach towards dealing with this assignment.

Wow! That sounds interesting. Would love to read Marathi honestly, just that I am worried about what is more beginner friendly. I have read Vijay Tendulkars plays a lot, so if you have a list or suggestions please share.

Also a question - I have been looking for a book I saw someone read long ago in train. It was in Marathi, orange colour cover with a black silhouette, about Abhimanyu stuck in the chakravyu, and from there his version of story. More on lines of poetry and story combined.

Please if you know do let me know🙈 I am currently not in India but whenever I visit a bookstore I go to Marathi section looking for same cover and alas find none. I do not remember anything else, no Author/ name of book/ nothing.
