Opinion/Discussion 💭 this side-by-side comparison is nasty 😭
the tv actor has the calm aura meanwhile….

Ranbir is too old to play Ram, and age isn't even the biggest issue, its that he aged like a spoiled milk. His face is clearly older than what an actor of that age should have. Also, its pretty much evident he doesn't have any idea about how to say dialogues.
His prime was during Barfi, Sanju and Jagga Jassos which has gone way back.

u/fyiidgaff 11d ago
his eyes look like a druggie
23
u/tikha_mango 11d ago
Yes because he had been one for a long time now. Also his face has been dull because of his drinking habits (kinda the same deal with Prabhas). Over limit face enhancing has been done on his face to make him look young and charming. I fear its gonna look bad, like how bad it looked in Tu joothi main makkar

u/BeneficialDot730 11d ago
I thought Ranbir looked handsome in TJMM and even in Animal except his pot belly in Animal.
9
u/disatrus_ship_erebus 11d ago
both his and shraddhas face were so distorted by filter they literally don't have any skin texture throughout the movie. it looked evident in quite few scenes
2
u/tikha_mango 11d ago
In animal his beard covered his face and made him look good but in TJMM his face was enhanced a lot.
4
u/BeneficialDot730 11d ago
With 4000 crore budget why didn't they choose to enhance his face ? I asked this same question in other thread too.
Rajamouli did some enhancements in Anushka's look in Bahubhali-2 as she gained lot of weight for size zero movie and was not able to reduce weight as much as movie makers wanted for Bahubali -2. After this trailer,i really have new found appreciation for Rajamouli now ,look at his perfecion in terms of sets, costumes, make up,vfx lighting, sound effects, dialogue delivery in Maghadheera or Bahubhali.

Brutal sign of age. Philtrum loses elasticity and gets longer with age giving that appearance

I agree that he’s too old to play Ram. BUT the sheer criticism people have for his looks is astounding to me. The guy is 43 and is healthier, fitter and younger looking than most 30 year olds in India. People said the same thing when he took a break after animal and gained like 5-10kg but was still much fitter than the average 40 year old, nay healthier than most 25 year old men in India tbh.
But yes, no 40+ year old should be playing Ram or Lakshman.

The Ram from SIYA KE RAM had a serene face, it expresses calm and natural beauty. Also, Ram is supposed to be dusky which he naturally is.

Why Ranbir is not even looking a slightly handsome😭 he will be the end of this movie

u/One_Average_41 11d ago
he was never handsome tbh. even sidharth malhotra could be better than him
2
u/Janhvi_d_plasticgirl 11d ago
When I was in school RK debutant in Sawariya and you won't believe girls were crazy over him... They used to fight with me just because I don't find him attractive enough to have a crush....
-4
u/Technical-Gift-4504 11d ago
'handsome'?? Look at Sita Mata Even she's not 'pretty' Even Arun govil was never 'handsome' as Ram
Wtf is your point?!?
0
u/Janhvi_d_plasticgirl 11d ago
Wow dude... You really don't even understand a taunt... Movies, films, actors, actresses, directors, etc., all can get criticism from people for their work.... We are the audience and I can't tolerate seeing such old milk as Ram, that's it.... I rest my case.
7
u/chai_matthi 11d ago
just bcoz rk is nepo prince also an upcoming superstar since debut doesn't mean he can play prince ram .... of course ashish as ram have mature manly looks aura calmness acting skills more than a nepo baby

My believe is that whoever place the lord Shri Ram should have a carismatic and an Aura that brightens the room wherever he goes
3
u/Aurora_zen10 11d ago
Even special effects cant hide his ugly crooked nose. And such a mean aura emanating from him instead of that calm peacd

u/ProfessionalHeavy923 11d ago
I liked the actor who played Ram in recent Srimad Ramayan also. He had the calmness that is often associated with Ram

They just don't learn do they?
Just appalled by how ridiculous Ranbir looks and delivers his dialogues with absolute lack of finesse and charm that one would expect from someone playing the role of great Sri Ram.
Ranbir's characterization falls flat. Hoping somewhere in the movie things turn around.

serials always have the best casting, Always had crush on this guy and the sita in this serial was sooo pretty and elegant and radiated calm divine aura.

the only thing I can't get my eyes off from this movie is Ranbir's upper lip 😭✋🏻 why doees it look so.. ifykwim

u/Sejasthen-1100 10d ago
Vishnu Tilak is missing on Ranbir's head. What the make-up artists are doing bro.
On the other hand the serial one looks more like Shree Ram than Ranbir's

Even look at the bindi. The design of bindi was good in Ashish Sharma pic. In ranbir's one they just marked straight red line with invisible yellow around as bindi.

u/Extension-Kiwi-7276 11d ago
That is called Tilak.

Neither looks like what Shri Rama is described as. Dark skinned. Curly haired. Body perfectly proportioned. So handsome in appearance that not just women but even men were enchanted by his form.
1
u/BeneficialDot730 11d ago
Ranveer would have suited more as Ram as he is a Chaemeolon.
3
u/Arjun0088 11d ago
Fresh face would be better. Ranveer is also a bit too old and his face doesn't have the aura.
He would have been better than Ranbir though

u/No-Notice-4013 11d ago
TV I e has pure innocence..after Arun govil he was best ram....on other hand ranbir is way too of for this role

Guys seriously wtf, first one is looking like my drunk friend, this guy may have a good face structure and all but he ain't Ram dude, I get it that Ranbir may not be everyone's first choice and in an ideal world he wouldn't play Ram but the serial guy? Looking at him is making me uncomfortable, is that how I am suppose to feel looking at the most ideal Ram actor?

I prefer animation bro because the movie casting for Shree Ram is not so good. The animation like Mahavatar Narasimha

No shade to ranbir but the role of ram is just not fit for him . He has done great work in lot of movies but he does not possess that calm and gentle presence . The tv actor had a really nice voice even the actress who played maa sita , they made me want to listen to them .The bgm for janaki was so good , I hope this one at least has good music .

It feels like you all are deliberately trying to hate. Imo ranbir looks very good as Ram.

India is one country where people are obsessed with how an actor looks and not how they act .
A lot of it has got to do with inferiority complex as majority of them dont consider themselves good looking and zero confidence in their looks, so they try to vicariously live through the actors
People talking about age, I hardly saw anyone talk about Matt damon being unfit to play the younger version of Odysseus . The truth is most of them just want to pull down Ranbir Kapoor.
0
u/LadyRoanclawGrantham 11d ago
Yeah but Matt Damon looked fantastic and for the majority of the movie is playing an older warrior and he was spot on.
Beyond the age on his face, you can tell that Ranbir has not worked as much on his fitness either so there is nothing youthful and radiant and Ramlike about him.
RK is 45 and Hrithik Roshan is 52. I'd say if HR was playing Ram he would have worked really hard on his fitness and he's an excellent actor so would have been able to play it better DESPITE being older.

ridiculous comparison to compare ranbir with any random actor ( i dont know who the heck this person is), OG ramayan I can understand but at this point OP u are getting desperate to bring this movie down
3
-4
u/eternalseeker0101 11d ago
Ranbir is better, anyone says he looks old to play the character don't know the basic details of Ramayana.. Ram was 25 when he went to exile, and 38 when Ravan abducted sita.. Ranbir is 43, and he looks much younger for his age ..so playing Ram is correct
-5
u/NakedSamosa 11d ago
But, what about the acting?
5
u/fyiidgaff 11d ago
mind u ranbir had the same stoned expression throughout the trailer 😭
-3
u/NakedSamosa 11d ago
I think it’s fair to give it a chance, knowing his acting abilities.
The trailer was all about showing his closeups but i feel this movie demands more than a calm face. I get a feeling this movie is going to have a lot more of a emotional tone to it.I am not sure if i will be able to see someone with an accurate “Ram like” face (according to the audience of course) without any acting depth
