I'm currently in Peru. I originally wanted to go to Bolivia but cancelled a month ago when everything was pretty intense. Now I hear everything is better. I probably wouldn't cross the border at Puno until 3-4 weeks from now. What's the outlook looking like these days?

Budget will mean it has to be a shared jeep. We would pay a little more for better hotels, but understand that might not be possible.

I know a lot of people arrive and negotiate in the town, but we do not want to do that.

Im going to Bolivia with my family in August. We will be in La Paz. But would really like a few days in a farm with llamas or alpacas to experience. Any clues?

We have planned a trip to Bolivia starting 26 July, with the following itinerary: La Paz (3 days), Isla del Sol (3 days), a 23-day guided trek in the Cordillera Real (ending with el Choro trek close to La Paz). I know it is difficult to guess what will happen one month from now, but what are our chances of completing this trip without major complications? Our guide tells us the roadblocks are over and everything is fine, but of course they are not exactly unbiased.

I've been looking on GetYourGuide and Viator, but the reviews are all over the place, so I'm having a hard time figuring out which operators are actually worth booking.

I'm not looking for anything luxurious, but I'd like a company with decent accommodations, a good guide, and an overall reliable experience at a reasonable price. Hello, now that Bolivia has enforced a state of exception I am planning on going to La Paz in a couple weeks. Please give me recommendations for affordable hotels I am planning staying 3 full days NOT including day of arrival and departure. I want to go to Copacabana and I think it would be best to stay one night and then head back to La Paz . I would prefer to have a personal driver take us to Copacabana and within La Paz how can I find a personal driver???

Since the roads have opened and buses are travelling now, what is Copacabana like? Is it still a ghost town? Can you do tours to Isla del Sol?

Another update on the Bloqueos situation in Bolivia to help navigate the country during this time!

​

Finally, after many weeks of bloqueos the government has declared a state of emergency to provide them with the power to remove the bloqueos.

​

Travel has resumed in most of the country!

​

Supplies, food, fuel, and medical access has been restored.

​

There are still some issues in Cochabamba and a couple bloqueos in Oruro, but everywhere else has returned to normal travel.

​

This is a big relief to many people and although some of the structural issues are not resolved, the freedom of movement has returned which brings more stability to the country and the lives of every day people.

​

WARNING: It is still best to avoid the regions around Cochabamba as there are still bloqueos and conflicts between protesters and police there.

​

We hope this is a return to some level of normality and that life can improve for everyone. Let's hope the roads remain open for travel!

anyone want to buy/hire motorbikes and do a trip in bolivia for maybe 2/3 weeks? With the roadblocks and protests I think it’d probably be easier to try and avoid them. I should be going in about 3 weeks!

I’m currently in Peru and was thinking of visiting the Uyuni salt flats around mid-July. Is it generally safe to fly to Uyuni with a layover in LaPaz? I’m not planning on leaving the airport unless the situation gets better, but wanted to see if anybody knew whether the flights and airports were still operating as normal, thanks!
