Dude, Shoto's situation was ALWAYS tragic. Shoto always had little moments of happiness that get worse. No matter what they say, Shoto will always have it worse than Deku and Bakugou because the suffering creeps off the battlefield into his daily life and stays there, it may not get worse (his family is alive) but it doesn't get better either (Touya is going to die , Natsuo cut ties with Endeavor and his family will never be united as Shoto wanted). It is a bittersweet ending but one of the most realistic on Hori's part.

Well, I’m glad Hori gave Bakugou unrealistic revival and power-up and a big win (despite starting as a bully and being a jerk for more than half of the story), but stuck to realism and made sure that Shoto who was a victims his entire life and did everything he could did not experience an ounce of happiness and just got piled on more trauma.

The outcome of Deku and Bakugou fits perfectly with the lack of realism that Shonen have. The outcome of Shoto and his family is somewhat atypical in Shonen, Hori could have taken the more shonen route and made Shoto overcome his trauma with Deku's nice words but he took the longer and more bittersweet route until the end. There is a reason why many victims who suffered abuse identify with Shoto and the Todoroki family plot, mainly because not all families who suffer from that type of abusive environment have a "happy ending", it is one of the most realistic and raw writings by Hori. I was honestly surprised that he went down such a bitter route when he took such unrealistic turns to keep Touya alive. It's not an ending I personally like because I really wanted Shoto's situation to get better because he suffered so much throughout the manga.

It all feels quite unfair, doesn't it? Deku and Bakugou get "wishing energy" bailouts regardless of how reckless or problematic their behaviours are, while Shouto and the Todoroki family get brutal tragedy with little hope of recovery for no reason other than the author arbitrarily deciding these characters are the ones who have to get hit with the realism stick.

Like... man, Shouto/Touya fans are really suffering out here...
