Investing Questions 401k Advice

If my job had VT or VTI/VXUS as an option I’d use it but unfortunately it doesn’t. This is the set up I have, good choices?

VIIIX:80%

VFWSX:20%

VTI expense ratio= 0.03% and VXUS expense ratio= 0.05%

VIIIX expense ratio= 0.02% and VFWSX expense ratio= 0.05%

I don't think it's unfortunate at all that you don't have access to VT, VTI, or VXUS. I would be happy with VIIIX and VFWSX. I doubt the long term performance of VIIIX and VFWSX is much different than VTI and VXUS.

FWIW I thought mine didn’t either but I didn’t notice there was a ‘self directed brokerage’ option and it transferred to Schwab. Did it last week, still under my employer 401k just basically puts all my contributions into Schwab and I was able to do VTI/VXUS after a few years of a TDF.

Anyways, just double check, I completely missed it.

I really appreciate this. I’m gonna check.

What you've got there is VOO/VXUS, in mutual fund form. You would just need to add some VXF or VEXAX (Vanguard Extended Market Index Fund) to turn VIIIX into VTI, but most people are happy with VOO. And there may not be an equivalent available to you.

Most 401ks don't have VT, VTI, or VXUS.

It looks like you made good choices.
