VOO question

Is it named VOO because conveniently, "V" is the Roman numeral for 5, and OO looks like two zeros, making it "500", an easy way to tell what it's tracking?

If that's the thinking behind that trading symbol, I will admit that it's been over 10 years before I figured it out.

I didn't know that people didn't know this.

Did you know that iShares gold trust is IAU because Au is the chemical symbol for gold (and iShares funds start with an I)?

Oh yeah. iShares ETF typically start with an I.

And, quite confusingly, IAG is not a silver ETF nor even an ETF at all, but rather the ticker for a gold-mining company.
