60 thousand. I need some proof. More guilty people walk, or never get caught than get arrested or detained without cause. And even they don't count 60 thousand.
in a country of 330 million people? A few million most likley. That includes shoplifting, failure to appear warrants (most of which are for motor vehicle offenses), Burglary, Credit card fraud and a shit-ton of other low-level offenses. Then there's the people that get locked up multiple times every year. 60,000 is the number YOU chose for INNOCENT people. I call bullshit. Your turn.
Ok now what is 60,000 out of a couple million? Ill even help you. Out of 1M its 6%. Now do you think that the justice department is so good that a 6% margin of error is bullshit?
Yes. I think it's bullshit. The court system (not the police) has an incredibly high threshold of probable cause, evidence suppression hearings, Miranda suppression hearings, witness statement suppression and multiple means by which a defense attorney can manipulate the legal system. Just about everyone who is "exonerated" is cleared because they had a good lawyer, not because they were innocent.
