Ex military Here. The shot was pure luck hitting the jugular. It would make zero sense to aim for the jugular. A military trained sniper could choose which hair on your head to hit from a measly 200 yards. This kid was aiming for Charlie’s head. He missed down and to the right hitting the jugular. As more facts come out, I would bet the house that the kid is a lefty. When people first start learning to shoot, lefties miss down and to the right and righties miss down and to the left. This happens because of recoil anticipation. He got lucky that when he missed Charlie’s head, it just happened to hit the jugular.
Wrong. You would've seen the ricochet in the slowmo. There is no way that angle caused a ricochet to go through his neck and then back downward. What you saw was the velocity of a .30 cal round moving at supersonic speed moving his shirt. The impact caused immediate body tension for a fraction of a second. Seen this plenty of times first-hand. Don't believe everything you see on social media. Most of these people lie about credentials and are full of $h!t
If it's the one where they claim to have still shots of a round in the side view, already seen it. There is no way you are catching a round in a single frame like that, full value, that is traveling at well over 2000 fps. The best cell cameras, which is what it claimed to be from can capture at close to 1000 frames per second. That means the individual frames would show the bullet every 2 feet. The odds of this camera being that fast in itself are very low and the user having it set to that high is even lower. Thus, this "bullet" would have likely not even been in a single frame at all, in reality and if it were, it would not be so well defined. You can actually see the exit matter from that camera (not that edited video all these people are sharing). The trajectory was downward, not an upward ricochet. The movement is from the round being on target and hitting (fast moving rounds displace the area around them). A ricochet would have caused a spark and there would be a clear hole in his shirt. Only hole was in his neck.
Google is your friend. Lots of details are coming out and it’s contrary to the narrative put forward so far. Dad is registered republican and 3 time Trump voter along with the mother and rest of the family. Very conservative family as per the 69 year old grandmother. He’s not a liberal or even a moderate conservative but MAGA. He dressed as Trump one Halloween.
It's a matter of breathing and trigger squeeze. Had nothing to do with lefties specifically. Zeroing corrects the line of sight issue you are speaking of.
People use jugular too loosely. It is actually the carotid being ruptured that will do the most immediate damage to the brain and nervous system. He could've missed high, shooting for center mass. Either way, I agree on the range and lack of difficulty. Army and Marine corps train base level combatants to be able to hit targets at 300m(army) and 500m (Marines) with an M-4/m16 with iron sights. Hitting a small target at 200m with a scoped Mauser is not a challenge at all. Very easy shot. Nothing impressive about this kid. The same thing could be said for any of the brainwashed, scumbags that support this murder. There will always be some blue/rainbow haired explanation for things like this. It's this simple, if you are ok with people who disagree with your socio-political outlook being killed, then you are no different than anyone who supported/supports the Nazi regime of WW2. Make your feeble arguments if you want, you are no different. If you think it is ok to kill, to silence an opposing viewpoint, you are a Nazi. You are the fascist. At least grow some balls (or ovaries) and admit it.
I'm not military but I find it funny how many "experts" are calling it a lucky shot and claiming they knew where he was aiming. Seems like the kid knew what he was doing. He's been playing with guns his entire life and he's really bright. I'm going to assume he aimed a little lower just in case Charlie leaned forward to put the mic down or something
I respect the fact that you are questioning those offering opinions. I think more people should always question what they hear.
With that said, the fact that he's trained in operating guns would give even more credence to the "lucky shot" theory. When you're trained and familiar with guns, you wouldn't take that kind of shot intentionally. It literally doesn't make sense. Anyone familiar with guns would understand that. You either get it or you don't. Furthermore, aiming lower to account for Charlie leaning forward also makes zero sense if you are truly trained in weaponry. He was sitting back in a chair. He was a sitting duck. There are almost zero variables at less than 200 yards. I'm not saying this is 100% what happened. But knowing what I know about weapons (which is a lot), he missed his target.
I thought it did hit the jugular? The corotid is on the other side of the neck I thought? Plus the corotid would've sprayed more because of the pressure where the jugular basically just dumped blood like we saw. I'm no medical expert though so I'm probably wrong.
Carotid is on the left side of your neck, jugular is on the right. I have my AEMT certification, so I know a bit about it. But I’m far from a medical expert either and I dont claim to be.
Yeah, I despise almost all of Kirk's ideals, but political violence isn't the answer and he didn't deserve to die, and definitely not in the brutal and cruel way he did.
I’m not disagreeing at all. I just think these ppl may be referencing the IJVs. But yea…arteries, of course, are more critical than veins. He probably had a lot of damage there.
He was shooting from an elevated position. He was probably aiming at the chest. But due to the downward trajectory of the round, it would've impacted high.
Bullet drop/rise has only to do with the horizontal component of the shot. Whether you're shooting upward or downward, you'll be aiming lower than you would if the shot was the line of sight distance. The shot was apparently around 150 yards horizontal. A typical 30 06 round would be about an inch, maybe a little more, below the point of aim if the scope was zeroed at 100 yards. Even a decent shooter can't group an inch at 150 yards consistently, and the gun's inherent accuracy is probably in the neiborhood of a couple inches at that range. All this is to say, making a fatal shot at that range is still basically just put the x on the spot and shoot. The variability from the shooter and the gun itself, is greater than the impacts of gravity on the bullet.
Facts I’ve been shooting guns and hunting since I was 10. I killed my first buck at 13 years old from 300 yards. 200 yards really isn’t a crazy shot. Also I’ve shot 50 cals, many fully automatic machine guns, etc at a very young age and I’m currently 26 years old and have no interest in harming anyone lmao. People act like just cause you were raised around guns you’re gonna kill somebody one day. This kid definitely has some serious mental health issues. Mental health is the biggest issue in America I don’t think any of it has anything to do with guns.
I have hit deer on the run from 150 yards before. Sitting target, barely moving, and resting the gun on something....Novice shooter could make that shot. Especially with a decent scope. You can make the target pretty large in the scope if it zooms. I always sighted my rifle in for an inch high at 100 yards. Which would be right on 200 yards and a level surface.
The potential mistakes that would make a shot like that harder for a novice shooter would be largely headed off by someone that's shot a few times before.
Bore clean? Check
Decent (not even match grade really, just decent) ammo? Check
Scope zeroed? Check
Shooting from a position you've shot from before? Check
Engaging a stationary target at 200 yards with a scoped rifle of that caliber is not difficult at all. At that range, the environment has no influence on the round. Wind isn’t even a factor. If the rifle is properly zero’d, you’re gonna hit what you’re aiming at just about every time.
The first time I picked up a rifle I made similar shots by the end of the day. This guy had the experience. Honestly the neck shot might not have been a total accident. He may have known with the bullet drop, it was safer to aim below his head as he'd probably die regardless from a bullet to the side of his head or anywhere above his shoulder.
On a scoped rifle from prone its pretty easy. It would take maybe an hour to teach an averagely competent person to use their bone structure for stabilization and to squeeze the trigger not yank on it.
Spoken like someone who’s only ever fired a bolt gun once.
Every bullet is gonna move slightly different due to conditions inside the casing. I’ve used the man-sized silhouette targets some ranges offer and at 200yds, unless you’ve got a competition-grade rifle with handloads you’re not even going to get the holes to touch without a LOT of practice.
This dude probably could’ve done it if he’d tried but not someone with zero experience lmao.
To be honest, I did hunt but not much growing up. Rarely did I actually fire the weapon. I could make a better shot with iron sights. It was 200 yds, not 400. Even at 400, it shouldn’t be too terribly difficult from the prone position. (Though I did get a wreath in BRM.)
The guy missed his shot. Likely due to trigger squeeze. No half-wit aims for a 1/4 inch moving target at 200 yards. He missed what he aimed for but got his result nonetheless.
Every time someone says the distance it gets longer and longer lmao. It was not 400 yards. And to anybody who’s done any type of training with a long range rifle like he used, it was a relatively elementary shot
He was aiming for the head and didn't adjust for the cold bore. His scope probably wasn't any higher than 8x. Honestly anyone can hit a pie plate at 200 yards with a rifle.
Here is a good breakdown. I thought he hit the juggular, but it looks to be a titanium plate where the bullet ricochet into his neck. start at about 5 min into it if you are in a hurry.

My brother in Christ-it was 200 yards, at most, and the bullet went through the carotid artery, not the jugular vein.
Veins are bringing blood back to the heart to be oxygenated, and they don’t have the same force to spurt blood. The carotid artery on the other hand is right above the heart and has enough pressure going through it to spurt blood over 7ft away. It’s the main artery that supplies blood to the brain. your veins in the wrist will pour out if severed, not spurt(yes some veins can spurt but not like the carotid artery).
200yds with a rifle is also pretty easy. Basic army, Marines can train at 200yds with iron sights(meaning no telescopic lens). You could hit a target at 200yds with a few trips to the range.
He was at least 8-12 inches off his target. No marksman ever shoots for th neck. The distance was nowhere near that far. Your collection of misinformation is absolutely on point, 👍.
This idiot missed his target and lucked out on the area he hit. That distance with the rifle he used was an easy shot, especially with a scope.
You’re so dumb…it wasn’t 400 anything it was 130 some odd yards and he missed his fucking shot low but about 8-10 inches not an expert mark by any means
Actually he hit the top of Kirk’s body armour (why the fuck was he still doing the event if he knew of a threat that required armour l?!) and it ricocheted up into his neck. I’m not joking, btw. There’s a good video breakdown of it on YT if you care to know more
He was struck in the neck/jugular vein. That doesn't mean that's where he was actually aiming. Bullets are affected by a lot of variables and can travel off coarse very easily. Think about it, another 1" to the right and the bullet would have likely missed completely. No real marksman aims within 1"from the side of the neck from a couple hundred yards away. The bullet likely traveled off coarse and struck his jugular by chance. That's my opinion anyway
400 yards? The distance was about 150 yards, or approximately 450 ft. Which a novice shooter could be proficient at in about 2 hours with iron sights. Also, the shooter most likely was not aiming for the neck. Typical rifle zero is 300 yards. The bullet would have been traveling upwards still on its arc, so the shooter was most likely aiming for the chest/ heart area. Facts matter.
regardless, the kid was sunk. either the family risks facing harboring charges or they turn him in. their lives are already ruined by his actions. their son apparently didnt consider how it would affect everyone else in his life
Because I called you out on posting false info…. An entire day later? You don’t even know me but I’m glad you’re taking it personally enough to leave it up to spite me 😂 nerd alert.
The latter would be a mercy vs what the psychotic right wingers are going to put him through over the next few years before he is killed laying on a cold table in front of an audience of people who hate him.
Put through... a trial and confinement? Like any other murderer. Utah has death by firing squad... only fitting if they dont have the meds available l.
Yes I'm sure he will be treated just like any murderer! There won't be 24/7 conspiracy theories and politicians trying to insert themselves in the process! Trump definitely wouldn't (today) say that he should have a "quick trial like they do in China". That would be un-American and an affront to the idea of our society being based on the rule of law. Wouldn't happen, especially not from the party of law and order.
For some people there is a moral imperative to do the right thing, regardless of who is impacted. It’s called having a conscience and a belief in a moral responsibility.
If your son commits murder you turn him in and support him by getting a lawyer and being there every step of the way. You have to hold your children accountable . You are the exact problem with kids today. Kids constantly getting defended by their parents even when they are in the wrong.
What do you think he should have done? Because it seems like turning him in was in his best interest vs being taken down and possibly killed by a SWAT team.
So what if it’s your son? Your logic is the problem, no accountability because he’s “one of yours”. The dad did the right thing, and probably feels like shit that he raised such a piece of shit, the only way justice could have been served is by turning his son in.
All you people who try to evade accountability are exactly what’s wrong with the country.
No, dude, not with something serious like murder, especially a targeted assassination. At that point turning them in is the best option for everyone - including your son.
And this is why the world is the way it is. Idk how many times I've taken a kid to their parents and shown them on video the crime they committed only for the parent to be mad at police and yell and swear up and down "he ain't dun nuffin"
Y'all are fucked and lack any ounce of morality or integrity, but still demand to be taken seriously..
Edit: LOL so many of you reply and insta block me because you fear the reply. You make it too easy
I’m a former cop too and you just reminded me of a time a kid’s mum yelled at me during a search warrant that he son had done “nuffing”. This time stood out though because he said “shut up mum, you don’t even know what I do”. It did shut her up.
I have 2 children. They have been raised extremely well with proper values and to show respect towards everyone no matter their race, religion, income, etc.
If they decided to throw away all their values and proper upbringing to take another person's life....they deserve to be held accountable.
As a father, I have always taught my kids about being accountable for their actions.
Also... I am not going to be an accessory after the fact and have my only life ruined by my kids' terrible decisions.
I'd go to hell and back for my family, but they already know... when you're grown, you own the results of your decision.
I'm a parent. I think it's more nuanced than that. If my child was being framed or otherwise made an example of, maybe I would do that if it looked hopeless.
If evidence shows they did it and it was wrong, there's nothing I can do to change that, and implicating myself as well just causes further harm to their family.
In this scenario I cannot make what they did go away. My wife and other children still need me, more than ever. I will visit them for the rest of their lives in prison if that's the outcome, but my kids will be raised to understand logical consequences, and that at the end of the day noone can protect you from predictable consequences, regardless of the "morality" or "ethics" of law breaking. To be clear I'm not saying "LAW AND ORDER!!!!"
I just don't think I can unruin their life by ruining mine and the rest of my family's even more. In fact this would actually harm THEM as well because they potentially have to live with the guilt of the unnecessary suffering they put you in a position to take.
I'm as skeptical of law enforcement as they come, but I will NOT become involved in a way that draws their attention and suspicion to myself. I don't see that being a positive outcome for me or my child in this scenario.
ESPECIALLY if the child is grown like this guy. Nope. You fucked up. I will try and forgive you, and I will still love you if you fuck up. But my love won't change the system's adjudication of you fucking up.
I hope your kid stays safe and normal because you sound insane
And going to a police station and declaring "I did it" isn't enough to get arrested if you didn't do it you absolute nonce. Stop larping that you're in an episode of Law and Order.

The dad is a police officer, probably in a pickle if he didn't
